    Matt McBride clubbed a solo home run in a losing effort against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
    McBride tagged Geoff Hartlieb for the solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning that pulled the Phillies to within a run, but that would be as close as they would get. The 33-year-old hasn’t played in the big leagues since the 2016 season and remains unlikely to crack the Phillies’ Opening Day roster.

    Hernandez left Monday’s game with a left hamstring strain and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The Rockies were planning to try Pacheco behind the plate anyway, but the injury to Hernandez makes it more of a necessity. Matt McBride also could help back up Wilin Rosario.
