Athletics signed LHP Matt Krook to a minor league contract.
Despite walking way too many batters, Krook has been effective as both a starter and a reliever in the minors. In the majors, though, he’s given up 13 earned runs in five innings for the Yankees and Orioles. The A’s will likely keep the 30-year-old in the bullpen and see if they can figure something out with him. He’s struck out 109 in 77 2/3 innings in Triple-A the last two years.

Orioles sent LHP Matt Krook outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 29-year-old southpaw had been designated for assignment on Thursday to clear a spot on the team’s 40-man roster. He passed through waivers unclaimed though and will continue to function as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Norfolk for the time being.

Orioles designated LHP Matt Krook for assignment.
Krook was one of several players to lose their spot on Baltimore’s 40-man roster earlier this week at the trade deadline. The 29-year-old lefty made one relief appearance for the Orioles after being called up last Friday from Triple-A Norfolk.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #66
Orioles recalled LHP Matt Krook from Triple-A Norfolk.
If he pitches, Krook will be making his Orioles debut, and hopefully he’ll get to lower his 24.75 career ERA that he accrued in four appearances with the Yankees last year. He had a 3.71 ERA and a 31/17 K/BB in 26 2/3 innings for Norfolk.

Orioles optioned LHP Matt Krook and RHP Kaleb Ort to Triple-A Norfolk.
Neither hurler was expected to crack the team’s Opening Day bullpen, so there are no major surprises here. Krook, 29, pitched well in Grapefruit League play — posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 7/2 K/BB ratio across four innings of work. With the cuts, the O’s are now down to 47 players remaining in big league camp.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #92
Orioles acquired LHP Matt Krook from the Orioles for cash considerations.
Krook was designated for assignment earlier this week but will head down I-95 to Baltimore. The lefty was outstanding in Triple-A last year, posting a 1.32 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 55/26 K/BB ratio across 34 innings (27 innings). He will surely soak up some innings in middle relief if he remains with the O’s.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #92
Yankees designated LHP Matt Krook for assignment.
Krook enjoyed great success last year as a full-time reliever in Triple-A, finishing with a 1.32 ERA and 55 strikeouts while also walking 26 in 34 innings. His time in the majors, though, saw him give up 11 runs in four innings. He’s 29 and he doesn’t throw hard at all, so there’s a chance that he’ll clear waivers. Still, the guess here is that someone will pick him up.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #92
Yankees optioned LHP Matt Krook to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The left-hander was obliterated for four runs on two hits and two walks without recording an out on Saturday against the Brewers. He sports a miserable 24.75 ERA in four innings of work with the Yankees this season.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #92
Yankees recalled LHP Matt Krook from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Krook has made two appearances for the Yankees this season, giving up a total of seven runs in three innings. He’s been much better in Triple-A, posting a 0.92 ERA in 29 1/3 innings. He’ll need to show something during this stint if he’s going to stick on the 40-man during the offseason.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #92
Matt Krook will serve as the Yankees’ 27th man for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Krook provides New York’s bullpen with some extra left-handed depth heading into Saturday’s twin bill in St. Louis. The 28-year-old left-hander made his big-league debut last month and will presumably head back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the conclusion of the doubleheader.
