After missing nearly two years, Foster made his return from Tommy John surgery on Friday and pitched a scoreless eighth inning for a hold against the Astros. Three days later, he’s off the roster. His spot will go to Enyel De Los Santos, who was claimed off waivers from the Yankees.

Matt Foster, who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, has had his rehab assignment halted because of a strained back.
It doesn’t appear to be a major setback. Foster had made six minor league appearances since beginning his rehab last month, allowing one run in 6 1/3 innings. If he’s not down for long here, he could be part of the White Sox pen in August and September.

White Sox placed RHP Matt Foster on the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster to claim outfielder Peyton Burdick off waivers from the Orioles. The 29-year-old righty will likely be sidelined until midseason as he continues to work his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery.

White Sox and RHP Matt Foster avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Foster will miss the majority of the 2024 campaign recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent back in April.

Matt Foster (elbow) underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery this week.
Foster was shut down in spring training with what was termed as a right forearm flexor strain, but now he can be ruled out through the early part of next season. It’s been a frustrating couple of years for Foster since an impressive debut in 2020.

  • CWS Relief Pitcher #63
White Sox transferred RHP Matt Foster from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
It’s a procedural move to make room for Nick Solak on the 40-man roster. Foster is out with a right forearm flexor strain and it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return.
