Daley is the man to make room for the triumphant return of Jeff Francis. He was 0-1 with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in 19 games for the Rockies this season. If they need bullpen help, he ought to be the one they recall.

The 31-year-old hurler owned a 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and impressive 13/1 K/BB ratio through his first five innings at Triple-A. He’ll function as additional depth in middle relief for the Bombers.

Daley was only up for a day, as he allowed six runs -- four earned -- over 1 1/3 innings in Saturday’s 16-1 loss to the Rays. He could be back later this season if he clears waivers.

It’s the second time since April that they’ve designated him for assignment. Daley has posted a 5.02 ERA over 13 relief appearances with the Yanks this season.
