  • STL Third Baseman #13
Matt Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Rockies on Saturday.
Carpenter’s home run was his second of the season. He brought the Cardinals to within one run with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The 38-year-old is hitting .200 with a .611 OPS on the year.
  • STL Second Baseman #33
Brendan Donovan was scratched from the Cardinals’ starting lineup on Friday due to neck stiffness.
The 27-year-old infielder is considered day-to-day for the time being. Dylan Carlson will take his place in the Cardinals’ lineup and will bat eighth against Aaron Nola and the Phillies while Matt Carpenter slides up to the leadoff spot in the team’s batting order.
  • STL Third Baseman #13
Matt Carpenter is leading off as the designated hitter Sunday against the Red Sox.
This will be Carpenter’s first time in the lineup for the Cardinals at home since returning to the club. The 38-year-old is getting the start with Nolan Gorman getting a day off, Alec Burleson playing left field, and Brendan Donovan handling second base.
  • STL Third Baseman #13
Matt Carpenter went 1-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs Monday in a win over the Angels.
Carpenter has his first two RBI of the season. The 38-year-old plated both runs with a single in the seventh that tied the game at 4-4. Carpenter hit leadoff in this game, and while that makes him a little more intriguing than hitting near the bottom, it’s not enough to suggest him as a fantasy player in 2024.
  • STL Designated Hitter #13
Cardinals activated DH Matt Carpenter from the 10-day injured list.
Carpenter rejoins St. Louis’ struggling offensive mix following a five-week absence recovering from a right oblique strain. The 38-year-old can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats at this stage of his career.
  • STL Third Baseman #13
Cardinals sent DH Matt Carpenter (oblique) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Memphis.
The 38-year-old veteran was taking swings prior to the weekend and will get his first rehab assignment since being placed on the injured list in early April. If all things go well, the Cardinals should expect Carpenter to be on the active roster in the coming days, but fantasy managers might want to consider other options if they need additional depth on their rosters.
  • STL Third Baseman #13
Matt Carpenter (oblique) took swings on the field during batting practice on Friday without any issues.
As long as he’s feeling well on Saturday, the veteran slugger could be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. Since he’s been sidelined since the beginning of April, he’s going to need at least a couple of game’s worth of at-bats before he’s ready to return from the injured list.
  • STL Third Baseman #14
Cardinals placed INF Matt Carpenter on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 2, with a right oblique strain.
The 38-year-old veteran will be sidelined for at least is the next ten days. Carpenter is 3-for-10 (.300 AVG) on the early season, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him to do much at the DH position when he returns to the active roster.
  • STL Designated Hitter #13
Matt Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Saturday’s win over the Nationals.
He’s 6-for-18 this spring. We’re not sure this will end well, but the Cardinals don’t yet have any regrets about bringing back Carpenter. He’ll probably get a couple of starts per week as a DH early on.
  • STL Designated Hitter #13
Matt Carpenter went 1-for-2 with a solo HR in a 6-3 loss against the Astros on Thursday.
Carpenter owns one of the three home runs hit by Cardinals players during Spring Training. The 38-year-old veteran signed a one-year deal with the club that he spent his first 11 seasons with and is unlikely to make a major impact for fantasy managers this season.
