Martin Prado announced his retirement after 14 major league seasons.
This was the expected outcome for Prado, who had hinted at retirement months ago. While never a star, the 36-year-old was a productive big-leaguer, finishing with a .287/.335/.412 career batting line with 100 homers over 1,458 at-bats for the Braves, Yankees, Diamondbacks and Marlins. His lone All-Star appearance came as a Brave in 2010. Lauded for his leadership qualities, the 36-year-old could get involved with coaching now that his playing career is over.

Marin Prado “has told friends he will likely retire,” per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Prado is a free agent this winter and would probably struggle to attract even minor league offers on the open market. The 36-year-old batted just .233/.265/.294 with two home runs and 15 RBI over 104 games with the Marlins in 2019. He spent parts of 14 total seasons at the major league level, compiling 1,542 hits.

Martin Prado slugged a solo homer in the Marlins’ victory over the Phillies on Sunday.
Prado lifted a towering solo shot to left field off Phillies’ reliever Edgar Garcia in the third inning. It was his first big fly since April 24 and also the 100th round-tripper of his major-league career. The 35-year-old veteran infielder is one of the most respected players in the league after 14 professional seasons, but he’s been plagued by multiple injuries in recent years.

Garrett Cooper is day-to-day with a tight left hamstring.
Cooper tweaked his hamstring while running down the first base line on a groundout in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday versus the Twins and was replaced by Martin Prado before the top of the third. If he strained a muscle, he will likely have to be placed on the 10-day injured list, but for now it’s just being labeled as tightness.

Garrett Cooper was removed from Tuesday night’s game against the Twins with an apparent injury.
Cooper appeared to tweak something while running down the first base line on a groundout in the bottom of the first inning, and he was replaced by Martin Prado before the top of the third. There should be a status update soon from Marlins Park in Miami.

Marlins activated INF Martin Prado from the 10-day injured list.
Prado wound up missing over four weeks with a right hamstring strain. The veteran infielder returns to a .239/.264/.303 batting line with just one home run and 12 RBI in 163 plate appearances this season.

Martin Prado (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday night at High-A Jupiter.
If all goes well on the farm, Prado should be cleared to return to the Marlins’ active roster sometime next week. The veteran infielder has been on the injured list since June 13 with a right hamstring strain and was batting just .239/.264/.303 in 163 plate appearances before the injury.

Marlins placed INF Martin Prado on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 13, with a right hamstring strain.
It’s yet another IL/DL stint for Prado, who tweaked his hammy on Wednesday. Garrett Cooper will handle first base while Prado is sidelined.

Martin Prado was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals with a tight right hamstring.
The Marlins are calling Prado day-to-day after he came up limping while attempting to run out a grounder. Brian Anderson moved over to third, and Austin Dean is playing left field. Miami gets a day off on Thursday, so there is a chance he could return to the lineup on Friday. If not, it sounds like Prado should be back playing shortly after.

Martin Prado has left Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals with an undisclosed injury.
Prado came up short while limping to first base, so it’s likely a lower-body injury for the veteran infielder. Austin Dean has taken Prado’s place, with Brian Anderson moving from the outfield to third and Dean taking over in right. We should know more about the specifics of Prado’s injury shortly.
