Martín Pérez and Alek Jacob were added to the Padres roster for the NLDS.
Pérez was probably going to be added anyway, but it became a certainty when Joe Musgrove went down; he’ll be the team’s fourth starter for the remainder of the postseason. Jacob is taking Nick Ahmed’s spot, giving the Padres an even 13/13 split of pitchers and position players.

Martín Pérez is not a part of the Wild Card series roster against Atlanta.
There was some thought that Pérez could be a lefty reliever for San Diego for that first series, but the Padres will go with Yuki Matsui in that role instead. Pérez could be an option in the NLDS against the Dodgers if San Diego were to advance.

Martín Pérez gave up six runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Pérez breezed through the first three innings, but gave up a six spot in a must-win game for the Diamondbacks and a game where the Padres probably had more motivation to lose. Not that Pérez wasn’t trying, of course, just the facts. He finishes the regular season with a 4.53 ERA, and he isn’t likely to be part of the Wild Card series roster. He could be called on for the NLDS if San Diego advances.

The Padres are bumping Martín Pérez and will have Yu Darvish start Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Pérez could start one of the following two days, but the Padres are listing those two games as TBAs right now. Thursday’s loss to the Dodgers ruined the Padres’ chances of winning the AL West, but they are locked in as the top Wild Card, meaning they’ll be hosting the D-backs, Mets or Braves next week.

Martín Pérez pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday as the Padres took down the White Sox 6-2.
An easy schedule has helped with the Padres’ surge these last two months, and Pérez, in particular, has taken advantage while facing mostly also-rans since joining the club. He’s allowed a total of two runs in starts against the Tigers, Giants and White Sox this month, dropping his ERA from 4.71 to 4.25. However, he’s set to face the hot-hitting D-backs in his regular-season finale.

Martin Pérez allowed just one run over five innings, but he didn’t pick up a decision Sunday against the Giants.
New dad strength? Pérez blanked the Giants over the first five innings in his first start back from the paternity list. He did give up a solo homer to Donovan Walton in the sixth, however, and that prevented him from picking up a win as it tied the game at 1-1. As usual, the 33-year-old didn’t miss many bats with just two strikeouts, but he was effective just the same. Pérez will be back on the bump Saturday against the lowly White Sox.

Padres activated LHP Martín Pérez off the paternity list.
Pérez is back after missing three days with the new addition. Tom Cosgrove is sent back to Triple-A to make room on the roster.

Padres placed LHP Martín Pérez on the paternity list.
Pérez had been scheduled to start Friday, but since the Padres have two days off this week, it’ll be easy enough to move things around. Dylan Cease and Joe Musgrove figure to be moved up to start Friday and Saturday against the Giants.

Martin Perez tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings and got a no-decision against the Tigers on Thursday.
Perez gave up five hits, walked one and struck out five. It was a great start for Perez, who was in line for the win before Robert Suarez blew the save in the ninth inning. Perez is 4-5 with a 4.46 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 96 strikeouts in 121 innings this year. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mariners on the road next week.

Martín Pérez allowed seven hits and four runs with three walks and four strikeouts over five innings in a win on Friday against the Rays.
Pérez struggled with his efficiency after being spotted a huge lead early on. He gave the Rays four runs right back after being up 7-0 in the second inning and never seemed to find a groove. His velocity was down a tick or two across the board and he didn’t have the same feel for his curveball that he’s had in his first handful of starts with the Padres. Nevertheless, he did manage to hang on for five innings and secure the win. He’s scheduled to face the Tigers at home next time out.
