Mark Mulder may not make his final start of the season this Friday.
The A’s are considering giving Joe Blanton the start after the two pitchers’ vastly different performances yesterday. Expect a decision in this regard by tomorrow.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder, who maintains he wasn’t hurt during his poor second half of last season, intends to get a later start this winter in order to prevent fatigue.
Mulder worked hard last winter to return from hip surgery. This season, he’ll go back to his old routine, which won’t involve throwing off a mound until next month.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder threw 50 pitches on Monday and said he would have been ready to pitch had the A’s advanced to the ALCS.
Mulder, who had not pitched since Aug. 19 after incurring a stress fracture in his hip, would have worked out of the bullpen.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder said yesterday that his injury is less painful, but his leg is still weak and he occasionally walks with a limp.
Mulder doesn’t know when he will be able to return. He won’t pitch in the regular season, but it’s possible he could pitch in the playoffs. ''They said six weeks, and that would be Oct. 1. I’d love to be back earlier, but they’re being realistic with me.’'

Mark Mulder said his right femer has healed completely and he’s right where he’d normally be headed into spring training.
“I’m 100 percent,” Mulder said. “I’m totally fine. Everything is completely normal.” Mulder will be perfectly safe to draft this year.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder is dealing with back discomfort and probably won’t throw batting practice until next week.
Mulder did play catch yesterday. The A’s don’t appear concerned about the problem.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder said his back spasms have abated completely, and he is now back on the schedule to pitch batting practice today or Sunday.
“I’m fine now. I felt fine yesterday,” he said. “It’s no big deal.”
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder threw his first bullpen session of the spring yesterday and said the stress fracture in his right hip that ended his season Aug. 19 is no longer a factor.
Mulder has been back to normal for over a month now. “Everything is fine. I’m 100 percent ready to go,” he said.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder has resumed normal pitching activity after missing time last week because of back spasms.
He’ll pitch in a game this weekend. The injury shouldn’t effect his fantasy value if the rest of spring is smooth.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Mark Mulder will miss at least one start, though it’s most likely he will miss two or three with tendinitis in his hip.
Regardless of how long he’s out, the A’s have no plans to DL Mulder since roster expansion is around the corner.
