Braves re-assigned OF Luis Liberato, INF Luke Waddell and INF Ignacio Alvarez to minor league camp.
No real surprises among this batch of cuts for the Braves. Liberato, 28, really struggled during Grapefruit League action — hitting just .185 (5-for-27) with a homer, five RBI, one stolen base and a 9/3 K/BB ratio. He’ll start the year as extra outfield depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Luis Liberato hit a three-run home run against the Pirates on Friday.
Liberato’s three-run blast ultimately was the reason the Braves tied with the Pirates on Friday, but the 28-year-old hasn’t had the spring he hoped. In his 11 spring games, Liberato is just 3-for-20 (.150 AVG) with seven strikeouts. Last season with Triple-A El Paso, he slashed .261/.365/.461 with nine home runs and 35 RBI across 276 plate appearances. He’ll likely continue to develop in the minors this season.

Braves signed OF Luis Liberato to a minor league contract.
Liberato will presumably also receive an invitation to spring training. The 27-year-old outfielder got into seven contests this past season for the Padres, going hitless in five at-bats. He finished the 2023 campaign with a solid .826 OPS with nine homers and eight steals across 276 plate appearances for Triple-A El Paso.

Padres sent OF Luis Liberato outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Liberato went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 26-year-old outfielder will remain with San Diego as organizational outfield depth after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in seven games this season in the majors.

Padres designated OF Luis Liberato for assignment.
Liberato, 26, went 0-for-5 with no walks and three strikeouts during his brief stay on San Diego’s active major league roster. Brandon Dixon has been selected from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Padres selected the contract of OF Luis Liberato from Triple-A El Paso.
It’s the first trip to the show for the 26-year-old outfielder. Liberato has hit .261/.354/.541 with 20 homers, 59 RBI, six stolen bases and a 99/48 K/BB ratio over 390 plate appearances in 99 games at Triple-A El Paso. He is not in the Padres starting lineup against Dustin May and the Dodgers on Friday night.

Padres signed OF Luis Liberato to a minor-league contract.
Liberato slashed .279/.338/.436 with eight home runs and three stolen bases across in 87 games at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners’ organization last season. The 25-year-old will serve as extra minor-league outfield depth for the Padres next season.
