Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Luis Castillo (hamstring) is “progressing as he should be.”
Wilson stopped short of giving a concrete timeline for Castillo, saying “I think as far as we know right now, he’s doing well.” The right-hander is eligible to be activated from the IL on Tuesday which would give him the chance to make one more start this season. If the Mariners officially fall out of the playoff race by then, that could impact the team’s desire to push him to make that final start.

Mariners placed RHP Luis Castillo on the 15-day injured list with a hamstring strain.
Castillo left Sunday’s game with a left hamstring strain and after undergoing testing it was determined he suffered a Grade 2 strain. No corresponding move has been made yet. Castillo received a platelet-rich plasma injection and hopes to turn when first eligible. He is 11-12 with a 3.64 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 175 strikeouts in 175 1/3 innings this season.

Luis Castillo will undergo testing on his hamstring Monday.
Castillo left Sunday’s game with a left hamstring strain. The right-hander looked to be hobbled considerably, but the testing will obviously determine the severity of the injury. It would be surprising if Castillo was able to make his next scheduled start against the Rangers next week.

Luis Castillo left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals with a left hamstring strain.
Castillo twisted his hamstring while throwing a pitch in the fourth inning and immediately left the contest. This will all but assuredly require a stint on the injured list, and it’s possible that this was the last pitch Castillo threw in 2024. If/when Castillo does hit the shelf, it could be Emerson Hancock that takes his spot in the rotation.

Luis Castillo left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals with an injury. He allowed two runs in three-plus innings before exiting.
Castillo clearly twisted his ankle on a pitch and immediately exited the game with a trainer. The right-hander will likely be evaluated, but is in real danger of missing time — potentially the rest of the season. Trent Thornton has entered in Castillo’s place.

Luis Castillo pitched seven innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Tuesday against the A’s.
Castillo allowed only four hits, but two of those were solo homers. The Mariners went on to lose this game, falling to 69-70 on the season. They’re 14-15 in Castillo’s starts, even though he has a 3.60 ERA. They’ve totaled two runs or fewer in 11 of the 29 games he’s started.

Luis Castillo surrendered two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rays.
Castillo managed to limit Tampa Bay’s offense to just a second-inning solo shot by Josh Lowe and a sixth-inning run-scoring single from Dylan Carlson to pick up his 11th win of the season. He finished with four strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. His fastball was overpowering in this one as an absurd 15 of his 19 swinging strikes came on his four-seamer. The 31-year-old fantasy ace will bring a solid 3.65 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 167/45 K/BB ratio across 165 1/3 innings (28 starts) into an extremely tasty matchup on Tuesday against the rebuilding Athletics.

Luis Castillo was tagged for five runs over six innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Friday.
Castillo allowed three homers in the start, which dampened the success of nine strikeouts with no walks. The stuff was good. The command was not. Castillo has given up nine runs in his last two outings, and his ERA has jumped up to 3.66 in the process. That’s still solid, but there’s no denying Castillo has disappointed over his last two games. He’ll try and get it going again Wednesday against the Rays.

Luis Castillo was charged with four runs over 5 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Pirates.
Castillo’s second pitch of the game was tattooed by Isiah Kiner-Falefa for a leadoff homer and he was burned by the long ball a couple frames later when Rowdy Tellez connected for a two-run blast. He finished with six strikeouts and also issued three walks. It was far from a dominant performance as Castillo turned in his first clunker in six starts since last month’s All-Star break. The 31-year-old fantasy ace will attempt to right the metaphorical ship on Friday against the Giants at T-Mobile Park.

Luis Castillo picked up his 10th victory of the season on Sunday night, limiting the Mets to one run on four hits over six innings.
The Mariners’ ace racked up nine strikeouts on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Jeff McNeil with two outs in the sixth inning. He got 12 whiffs on 96 pitches on the evening, producing a strong CSW of 34 percent. Now 10-11 on the season, the 31-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 148/40 K/BB ratio (148 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
