Logan Allen wasn’t at his best in Friday evening’s loss to the Astros, surrendering four runs on seven hits across his six innings of work.
The 26-year-old southpaw walked two batters while striking out a pair in the ballgame. He kept the Astros off the board entirely until the fifth inning where they scratched out three runs on run-scoring knocks from Jose Altuve and Christian Walker. Allen also served up a solo homer to Brendan Rodgers in the sixth. He got just four whiffs on 88 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of just 19 percent. He’ll carry a disappointing 4.42 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 40/27 K/BB ratio (55 innings) into Wednesday’s home tilt against the Reds.

Logan Allen surrendered five runs — four earned — and four walks over 3 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Tigers.
Just an all-around hideous day from Allen, who twice made throwing errors on comebackers from Riley Greene. He’s now failed to complete five innings five times in 10 starts. (One of those was due to a rain delay, though since he’d allowed two runs in three innings, he might not have finished five anyway.) His 4.31 ERA isn’t so bad, but it’d certainly be worse if not for the quick hooks. His rotation spot would be in jeopardy if the Guardians decide Parker Messick is ready for a shot.

Logan Allen didn’t qualify for a decision after allowing two runs over three innings in the suspended game against the Twins completed on Wednesday.
Allen was in line for the loss when the game was suspended Monday, but he was let off the hook when the Guardians tied it in the ninth before losing it in the bottom of the inning. The left-hander gave up four hits and a walk and struck out three. Allen is expected to make his next start Saturday against the Tigers.

Monday’s game between the Guardians and Twins has been suspended due to inclement weather.
It’ll be resumed on Tuesday afternoon with the Twins holding a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Ober allowed one run over three innings during a rain-shortened start that featured a pair of rain delays before ultimately being called off. His Cleveland counterpart, Logan Allen, was charged with two runs over three innings.

Logan Allen tossed six scoreless innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 2-0 victory over the Brewers on Tuesday.
Allen gave up three hits, walked one and struck out six. The 26-year-old left-hander held down a Brewers offense that entered play Tuesday 11th in all of baseball in runs per game on the road (4.74). Allen lowered his ERA to 3.70 on the season in the process. While this start was certainly a step in the right direction, Allen is still best used in deeper formats as he’s still sporting a 31/20 K/BB ratio and 4.99 xFIP this year. He’s lined up to face the Twins on the road next week.

Logan Allen yielded three runs in four innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Nationals.
Allen gave up seven hits and walked four, so allowing only three runs was quite an accomplishment. Scoring all of their runs in the sixth, the Guardians ended up winning the game 8-6 even though the Nationals had more hits (13-10), more extra-base hits (4-2) and more walks (7-5). Allen remains 1-2 with a 4.33 ERA through seven starts. He’ll face the Brewers next.

Logan Allen pitched decently in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday night, allowing three runs — two earned — on six hits over his 5 2/3 innings.
Allen punched out four opposing batters while issuing a pair of walks in the contest. He allowed a pair of runs, one of them earned, in the third inning on an RBI single by Alejandro Kirk. Allen then served up a solo blast to George Springer in the fifth inning. He got nine swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night — four of them on his sweeper — while posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to improve upon his 4.02 ERA and 1.53 WHIP when he squares off against the Nationals in Washington on Wednesday.

Logan Allen allowed seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.
Allen had gotten off to a strong start to the season, but came back down to earth a little bit today, which is not much of a surprise given how few bats he was missing in his earlier starts. Allen walked three on the day, while striking out two and posting a 19 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. He is not a recommended streamer next week against the Blue Jays.

The Guardians plan to promote left-hander Doug Nikhazy to start the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox.
The 25-year-old left-hander has made four starts at Triple-A Columbus this season, posting a 3.44 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 22/7 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings. He’ll likely be the 27th man for the twin bill and will head back to Triple-A after the spot start, so there’s no reason to try to add him for fantasy purposes. Ben Lively will start the first game after his start was rained out on Friday. It’s unclear if Logan Allen — who was originally scheduled to start on Saturday — will get pushed back to Sunday, or if the Guardians will shuffle their rotation.

Logan Allen allowed one run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings in a tough-luck no-decision against the Pirates on Sunday.
The left-hander struck out five and walked one on the day, and seemed on his way to another win before the bullpen blew a three-run ninth inning lead. There’s nothing exceptional about what Allen is doing, but he’s pounding the strike zone with four of his five offerings and earned 20 called strikes during the game. That command-centric approach has helped him register a 2.11 ERA so far this season, but it’s tough to recommend him next weekend against the Red Sox.
