Lenyn Sosa homered and drove in four runs in a blowout win for the White Sox over the Rockies on Saturday.
Sosa ambushed a German Márquez pitch in the second inning to give the White Sox a 5-2 lead with a runner on. He singled in two in the eighth as well to up that lead to 8-2, and it gives him 27 RBI to go with seven homers. Sosa is slashing .275/.294/.419 on the campaign, but doesn’t get enough help — or steal enough bases — to be a must-roster player in leagues.
  • CWS Shortstop #83
Colson Montgomery will start at shortstop and bat seventh in his MLB debut against the Rockies in Colorado on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old shortstop isn’t being brought up to sit around, so expect that he’ll be the team’s starting shortstop going forward. Chase Meidroth will slide over and play second base, which will significantly cut into the playing time of Lenyn Sosa going forward.

Lenyn Sosa went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Sosa had two of the team’s only three hits of the game against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and drive in Chicago’s only run on a double in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old infielder has been one of the White Sox more productive hitters, slashing .278/.298/.412 with six homers, 22 runs scored, and 23 RBI across 253 plate appearances.

Lenyn Sosa hit his fifth and sixth homers Wednesday to lead the White Sox past the Diamondbacks 7-3.
Sosa also singled on a four-RBI day. The one negative was that he was caught on a rare steal attempt; he had been 1-for-1 there this season and 4-for-6 in 228 games since debuting in 2022. Sosa is batting .277/.298/.416 in 239 plate appearances this season. OBP is always going to be a major issue here, but there’s no reason he can’t keep hitting for a solid average and power. He should be batting higher than seventh in the White Sox lineup.
  • CWS 1st Baseman #29
Ryan Noda is starting at first base and batting seventh against the Cardinals in Game 1 on Thursday.
Noda was on the bench on Tuesday against a left-handed pitcher, but he was replaced by Lenyn Sosa, who had just come off the IL, so there was some question about their roles going forward. It seems that Noda will continue to start regularly against right-handed pitchers. Despite struggling in Triple-A for the Angels to start the season, Noda seemed to figure something out in his brief stint in Boston, hitting .378/.519/.703 in 13 games at Triple-A Worcester with three home runs, 13 RBI and two steals. He’s worth keeping an eye on in case some tangible changes took place in Boston.
  • CWS Shortstop #50
White Sox activated INF Lenyn Sosa from the 10-day injured list.
Sosa is back after missing nearly two weeks with a hip flexor strain. He’ll probably resume getting most of the starts at second base, with Josh Rojas seeing more time at third and in the outfield. He’ll still do some sitting against right-handers.

Lenyn Sosa (hip) went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Sosa landed on the injured list on June 4 with a right hip flexor strain and at the time the White Sox were hopeful that he wouldn’t require much longer than a minimum stint on the injured list. He appears to be on track to return early next week provided that things go smoothly at Charlotte throughout the weekend.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman #50
White Sox placed INF Lenyn Sosa on the 10-day injured list with a right hip flexor strain.
Tim Elko was called up from Triple-A Charlotte to take Sosa’s place on the roster. The 25-year-old will need to miss at least a week-plus with the injury, and if it’s a minimum stint on the IL he could return June 13. There’s a pretty decent chance he won’t be back until later in June, however, based on previous hip flexor injuries.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman #50
Lenyn Sosa went 2-for-4 with a three-run double and a walk Saturday in the White Sox’s 10-5 victory over the Rangers.
One of the reasons the White Sox sent down both Tim Elko and Andrew Vaughn was a stated desire to get Sosa more at-bats. Still, that could have just been accomplished just as easily by reducing the roles of Josh Rojas and Joshua Palacios. It’s good that Sosa is playing, though. He’s 17-for-43 with two homers and five doubles in his last 13 games.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman #50
Lenyn Sosa hit a two-run homer in a losing cause Wednesday versus the Mariners.
Sosa also went 2-for-3 with a double in last night’s 1-0 win. Before that, he was on the bench in three out of four games, as the White Sox have been turning his playing time over to Josh Rojas. At .272/.289/.395, Sosa has been one of the White Sox’s better hitters in spite of his extreme aversion to drawing walks. He might never turn into a quality regular, but there’s still no reason for him to be taking a backseat to Rojas.
