Kyle Gibson gave up five runs — four earned — in four innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.
Gibson gave up two runs in the first and two more in the second, with one more coming in the fifth. There were simply too many of these types of starts for the right-hander in 2024 to trust him as a fantasy option, and he finishes with a 4.24 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 30 starts and 169 2/3 innings of work. He’ll now hit the free-agent market, and there should be some interest from teams looking for some innings at the back of their rotation. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere.

Kyle Gibson dropped to 8-8 after allowing four runs — three earned — in six innings Friday in a loss to the Guardians.
The Cardinals’ inability to develop pitches has resulted in them spending significant dollars to add Steven Matz, Gibson and Lance Lynn the last two offseasons, and they’ve truly gotten what they deserved. While Sonny Gray, Gibson and Lynn have all met any expectations the Cardinals should have had this year, the club will be vacationing in October for a second straight year. Gibson will finish up his season with a road start against the Giants on Friday.

Kyle Gibson allowed five runs -- one earned -- with one strikeout over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Gibson retired the first seven batters until Davis Schneider took him deep for a solo homer in the third inning. He later loaded the bases with one out in the sixth before a throwing error brought a run in. Gibson would depart with the bases loaded and all three inherited runners would come in to score. The 36-year-old right-hander will take a 4.11 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 144/62 K/BB ratio across 159 2/3 innings into a start against the Pirates in St. Louis on Thursday.

Kyle Gibson tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings and got a no-decision in the Cardinals’ 2-0 victory over the Mariners on Saturday.
Gibson gave up three hits, walked three and struck out nine. Gibson certainly pitched well enough to win, but the Cardinals couldn’t push across a run until he was out of the ballgame. He’s allowed two runs or less in three of his last five starts. Gibson is 8-6 with a 4.20 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 143 strikeouts in 154 1/3 innings on the season. The 36-year-old right-hander is set to face the Reds at home next week.

Kyle Gibson struck out six and allowed one run over seven innings on Saturday in a win over the Yankees.
Gibson has been solid, yet unspectacular, this season in his Cardinals debut. He turned in arguably his best second-half performance on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium to outduel rookie Will Warren and collect his eighth win of the year. The 36-year-old veteran right-hander will face the Mariners on Friday in his next outing at Busch Stadium.

Kyle Gibson allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Padres on Monday.
Gibson gave up five hits, walked four and struck out two. He’s allowed seven runs in two of his last three starts. Gibson allowed multiple runs in three of the first five innings against the Padres. He has a 4.54 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 128 strikeouts in 140 2/3 innings this year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road this weekend.

Kyle Gibson allowed seven hits and two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Brewers in a no-decision.
Gibson is exactly what he is at this point. He keeps the ball down, gives up plenty of contact, and can get whiffs with his sweeper and curveball but not much else. The Cardinals’ one run lead did not feel safe with him on the mound and he gave it up quickly with a run each in the fifth and sixth innings. He’s a matchup based streamer and has a scary two-step next week first against the Padres and then in the Bronx to face the Yankees.

Kyle Gibson was torched for seven hits, six earned runs, and four home runs in 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Reds.
A fly ball pitcher like Gibson and Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati is always a nightmarish match up and the result here was ugly. Four Reds hitters found the seats before the fifth inning was over. Just a streamer, look for Gibson to rebound in his next scheduled start against the Brewers at home.

Kyle Gibson was left with a no-decision after allowing two runs over six innings Thursday against the Rays.
Gibson exited with a two-run lead, but the Rays immediately erased that with three runs in the seventh. Gibson’s quality start was his 10th in 22 outings. He’s 7-4 with a 3.99 ERA, though the Cardinals are 11-11 in his starts.

Kyle Gibson struck out seven and allowed four runs over seven innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Cubs.
Gibson settled in nicely after allowing four runs over the first two frames, keeping the Cubs off the scoreboard in his final five innings of work. He was fortunate that St. Louis’ offense rallied in the late stages of the contest to take him off the hook for a loss. He’ll bring a serviceable 4.04 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 109/47 K/BB ratio across 120 innings (21 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Rays.
