Orioles signed RHP Kyle Dowdy to a minor league contract.
Dowdy, 29, fired 6 1/3 innings of shutout baseball in his time with the Reds during the 2022 campaign. He was much more pedestrian in his time at Triple-A Louisville, compiling a 3.96 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and a 56/31 K/BB ratio across 52 1/3 frames. He’ll function as bullpen depth for the Orioles.

    Reds non-tendered RHP Kyle Dowdy.
Dowdy was among a large group of Reds who were designated for assignment on Tuesday and this was the next anticipated move for him. The 29-year-old actually pitched well in his limited time with the Reds in 2022 -- hurling 6 1/3 scoreless innings -- which should be enough to get him a look elsewhere this winter

Reds designated RHP Kyle Dowdy for assignment.
The Reds had plenty of players that they wanted to protect in advance of the Rule 5 draft, which led to some tough decisions on Tuesday. One of those, was having to remove Dowdy from the 40-man roster. The 29-year-old hurler impressed in his limited action with the big league club in 2022 -- hurling 6 1/3 scoreless innings with a 1.26 WHIP and 3/3 K/BB ratio. He could attract interest on waivers.

Kyle Dowdy will serve as the Reds’ 29th man for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Dowdy provides the Reds with some extra relief depth for Saturday’s twin bill against St. Louis. The 29-year-old righty has made one relief appearance this season in the majors, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless frames earlier this week against the Pirates. He’ll head back to the minors at the conclusion of the doubleheader.

Dowdy has been added to the Reds’ 40-man roster and will serve as the team’s 29th man for Tuesday’s doubleheader before shipping back to Triple-A Louisville. The 29-year-old righty last appeared in the majors back in 2019. He’s recorded a pedestrian 4.25 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 53/29 K/BB ratio across 48 2/3 innings (44 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Rangers returned RHP Kyle Dowdy to the Indians.
Dowdy, a Rule-5 pick, had been designated for assignment by the Rangers on July 25 and passed through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander missed time earlier this month due to an elbow impingement.

Rangers activated RHP Kyle Dowdy from the 10-day injured list; designated him for assignment.
That clears a roster spot for Shane Carle, who Texas acquired Thursday in a trade with Atlanta. Dowdy landed on the injured list with an elbow impingement last month but it appears he’s conquered that hurdle. A Rule 5 pick, Dowdy will be returned to Cleveland if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Kyle Dowdy (elbow) has moved his minor-league rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville.
Dowdy hurled a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance for Double-A Frisco on Monday night and now we’ll see how he fares against Triple-A hitters. An elbow impingement has slowed the right-hander since early June. The former Rule 5 pick carries an ugly 7.25 ERA over 13 outings for Texas including one start.
