Giants signed RHP Kyle Cody to a minor league contract.
Cody heads to San Francisco as extra organizational pitching depth after making 15 appearances (five starts) for the Rangers from 2020-2021.
  • TEX Left Fielder #32
Rangers reassigned OF Evan Carter, INF’s Luisangel Acuña and Dustin Harris, LHP Lucas Jacobsen and RHP’s Ricky Vanasco, Owen White, Cole Winn, Fernery Ozuna, Kyle Cody and Zak Kent to minor league camp.
Carter made some serious noise this spring in Rangers camp and was generating some buzz as a potential Opening Day roster candidate. The 20-year-old former second-round selection might have a shot at making his big league debut this season, if everything breaks right.

Rangers sent RHP Kyle Cody outright to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cody doesn’t have enough service time to reject the outright assignment, so he’ll remain with the Rangers as organizational pitching depth. The 27-year-old righty has posted a serviceable 3.71 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 32/15 K/BB ratio across 34 innings at the big-league level since 2020.

Rangers activated RHP Kyle Cody from the 60-day injured list.
The right-hander is expected to be out until the second half of the 2022 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. Activating Cody from the injured list is just a transactional formality.

Kyle Cody underwent labral debridement surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday.
The Rangers are hopeful that he’ll be ready for the second half of the 2022 season, but this is obviously a discouraging development. The right-hander has been sidelined since late April when he was initially diagnosed with shoulder inflammation.

Rangers transferred LHP Kyle Cody to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has really changed in the prognosis or the recovery timetable for Cody’s return from a shoulder impingement, this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for Jack Kruger who was claimed off of waivers on Sunday. Before landing on the injured list, Cody had compiled a 7.94 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 14/2 K/BB ratio across 11 1/3 innings.

Rangers placed RHP Kyle Cody on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
The move is retroactive to April 24. The 26-year-old is carrying a 7.94 ERA on the season with a 1.59 WHIP over 11 1/3 innings. RHP Josh Sborz has been recalled from the Rangers alternate training site to take Cody’s place on the roster.

Rangers manager Chris Woodward said Tuesday that Jordan Lyles will pitch in a tandem role at the back of the team’s rotation.
Woodward also added that he wants to pair the right-handed Lyles with a left-handed pitcher, which could leave Dane Dunning and/or Kyle Cody out of the rotation mix or in a separate tandem with another lefty. It’s not a particularly relevant situation for those in standard mixed fantasy leagues, though Dunning has been talked about as a potential late-round sleeper. Workload uncertainty is sure to be a big issue overall in 2021.

Kyle Cody allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk vs the Dodgers over 2.1 innings on Friday.
Six of the eight hits surrendered by Cody were doubles. Four of the doubles were of the run-scoring variety. The 26-year-old ran into five three-ball counts in his short outing, allowing all but one of them to reach base against a very patient Dodgers lineup. The right-hander has been having trouble with the consistency of his delivery lately and that did not seem to improve this afternoon. Cody was competing for a rotation spot with the Rangers, but after allowing nine runs over 8.1 innings thus far it’s tough to see that happening at this point.

Kyle Cody tossed three innings and gave up four hits and two runs, striking out one as the Rangers and Brewers played to a 4-4 tie on Saturday.
Cody made his major league debut last year, and has so far made a positive impression, beyond some control issues. The six-foot-seven righty had a decent 2020 campaign, posting a 1.59 ERA in 22 innings over eight games, and will likely earn a rotation spot; however, his 3.90 FIP and 13 walks are concerning.
