Kris Bubic (shoulder) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.
Bubic is working his way back from last year’s rotator cuff strain that shortened his breakout campaign to just 20 starts, finishing with a pristine 2.55 ERA — 3.17 xERA — 1.18 WHIP and 116/39 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old southpaw carries some durability question marks but will be a top-50 range starting pitcher in fantasy drafts this spring.

Kris Bubic won his arbitration case against the Royals and will make $6.15 million in 2026.
A revelation in the 2025 season before going down with a rotator cuff strain, Bubic will enter his final season before free agency with a rotation spot all but assured as long as he’s healthy. He’s probably somewhere near the top-60 starters and should be drafted in most standard formats.

The Athletic’s Will Sammon reports Royals starter Kris Bubic is garnering trade interest from multiple teams.
Sammon adds that Kansas City is open to the possibility of dealing Bubic in exchange for help on offense, people familiar with the club’s thinking said. The 28-year-old southpaw is one year away from free agency and would represent a rotation upgrade for multiple contending teams. His breakthrough campaign came to a screeching halt in late July when he was shut down for the remainder of the season with a rotator cuff strain, finishing with a stellar 2.55 ERA and 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings over 20 starts. He’s been cleared to resume throwing and is expected to be a full-go at the start of spring training.

Kris Bubic (shoulder) has been cleared to resume throwing and is expected to be fully healthy for spring training.
Bubic’s breakthrough campaign came to a screeching halt in late July when he was shut down for the remainder of the season with a rotator cuff strain. The 28-year-old southpaw is expected to be a full-go at the outset of spring training after posting a sparkling 2.55 ERA and 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings over 20 starts this past season. A clean bill of health is an extremely encouraging update given how scary shoulder issues tend to be from a historical standpoint.

Royals transferred LHP Kris Bubic from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
It’s a procedural move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Mike Yastrzemski. Bubic will miss the remainder of 2025 after suffering a left rotator cuff strain, and should pitch near the top of the rotation whenever he’s ready in 2026.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro announced Monday that Kris Bubic (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season.
No surprise here after Bubic hit the injured list over the weekend with a left rotator cuff strain. There simply isn’t enough time for the 27-year-old lefty to ramp up his throwing program to make it back in less than two months. He finishes a breakout campaign with a sparkling 2.55 ERA and 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings (20 starts).

Royals placed LHP Kris Bubic on the 15-day injured list with a left rotator cuff strain.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Bubic will undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the strain after experiencing shoulder stiffness during Saturday’s doubleheader against the Guardians. The 27-year-old southpaw has been one of the biggest breakthrough arms in the fantasy landscape this season with a pristine 2.55 ERA and 116/39 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings (20 starts). There should be a definitive return timetable at some point in the coming days.

Kris Bubic admitted to shoulder stiffness after giving up four runs — three earned — and walking four in 2 2/3 innings in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Guardians.
It’s something he’s been dealing with for a while, apparently. Something always figured to come up here, given that Bubic has been on pace to make 30 starts after throwing 16 and 30 1/3 innings the previous two years. He’s at 116 1/3 innings right now. It’s unclear whether he intends to keep pitching through it, but the smart play for the Royals might be to give him some time off.

Kris Bubic tossed five scoreless innings and got the win in the Royals’ 7-4 victory over the Marlins on Friday.
Bubic gave up three hits, walked one and struck out two. The 27-year-old left-hander was removed after five innings and just 66 pitches, leading to speculation that he might be injured. It doesn’t help that Bubic’s velocity was noticeably down on the afternoon. Fantasy managers will have to hope for the best before an official update from the Royals. Bubic is tentatively lined up to face the Guardians on the road next weekend.

Kris Bubic allowed six hits and three runs, with six strikeouts, over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Wednesday.
It felt like Bubic was well on his way to an easy victory in this one. He cruised through the first five innings, allowing just three hits and retiring eight in a row before the sixth. Then, he allowed the first three batters to reach base in the sixth and all three wound up coming around to score. He had Tommy Pham down 0-2 to start the frame and for some reason threw him a fastball right down the middle which he hit for a single. Bubic’s command was wonky that entire inning, as Ke’Bryan Hayes smacked a sweeper that caught too much of the plate for the game-tying single that wound up chasing the pitcher from the contest. Nevertheless, it’s been a banner first half for the left-hander in his comeback season as he heads into the break with a 2.48 ERA.
