Kody Clemens had an RBI triple in the fourth and a game-winning RBI double in the ninth as the Twins beat the Guardians 6-5 in Monday’s suspended game, which was completed Wednesday.
Clemens didn’t start the game against a lefty, but with the Guardians switching to a righty after play resumed, he entered immediately in the fourth and delivered two big hits in three at-bats. Clemens is up to eight extra-base hits and 10 RBI in 45 plate appearances since being picked up by the Twins. He’s always struggled to maintain a decent OBP, but the power is legit, and he’ll surely keep playing regularly against righties for now.

Ty France (foot) is out of the lineup on Thursday.
France left Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader after fouling a ball off his left foot. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury or if the Twins expect to place him on the IL. Kody Clemens will start at first base and bat eighth against the Orioles on Thursday.
  • MIN 1st Baseman #18
Kody Clemens hit a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to propel the Twins to an 8-6 win over the Orioles in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.
A doubleheader sweep. Clemens also had an RBI single before giving the Twins the lead by taking Yennier Cano deep in the eighth. It was Clemens’ second homer in 22 at-bats and 11 appearances since being picked up by Minnesota. The OBP skills aren’t there to make him a quality platoon option, but he has managed 16 homers in 398 career at-bats as a major leaguer.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa has been scratched from the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Giants.
No word yet on the reason for the move. Correa has dealt with a myriad of physical issues over the last few seasons, but he’s managed to stay mostly healthy this year. There should be an update on his status shortly. It’ll be Brooks Lee taking over at shortstop with Kody Clemens entering the lineup at second base.

Kody Clemens went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Twins’ 4-3 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
Clemens delivered a big hit for the Twins in the sixth inning, taking Hunter Dobbins deep for a two-run blast to take the lead. The 28-year-old utility man has started three of the last four games since joining the Twins in a trade from the Phillies and should continue to mix in at first base, second base, and outfield.
  • MIN 1st Baseman #2
Twins acquired INF Kody Clemens from the Phillies for cash considerations.
Clemens jumps directly to Minnesota’s active roster in the wake of top prospect Luke Keaschall suffering a fractured right forearm during Friday’s series opener against the Angels. The 28-year-old infielder was removed from Philadelphia’s roster earlier this week after going 0-for-6 in limited action. He’s merely emergency bench depth at this stage of his career.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #2
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Twins have agreed to acquire Kody Clemens from the Phillies.
No word yet on what the Phillies will receive in return, though it’ll probably just be cash after Clemens had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. The 28-year-old is a career .197/.244/.367 hitter with 14 homers and 48 RBI in 376 at-bats at the big league level.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #2
Phillies designated INF Kody Clemens for assignment.
Clemens didn’t get a single start over the first four weeks and wound up 0-for-6 with a walk off the bench. He has enough left-handed pop that another team might want him as a bench guy, but he’s just a .197/.244/.367 hitter in 402 major league plate appearances to date.
  • PHI 3rd Baseman #37
Weston Wilson is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with low-A Clearwater.
Wilson missed all spring with his strained oblique, so the Phillies might want to get him a couple of weeks of at-bats before activating him. He’ll likely get Kody Clemens’ bench spot once he’s deemed ready.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #19
Phillies designated INF Buddy Kennedy for assignment.
Buddy Kennedy had a chance to make the Opening Day roster with Weston Wilson sidelined by an oblique injury, but he hit just .150/.327/.400 this spring, so the Phillies chose to roll with Kody Clemens instead. Since Kennedy was out of minor league options, he needed to be designated for assignment and now can be claimed by any team.
