Mariners selected the contract of LHP Kirby Snead from Triple-A Tacoma.
Snead, 29, had been throwing the ball very well at Triple-A Tacoma, compiling a 2.92 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 13/2 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings in his first 12 appearances. He’ll give manager Scott Servais another weapon to deploy in the late innings.

Mariners reassigned C Harry Ford, LHP Kirby Snead, INFs Cole Young, Tyler Locklear and Cole Tucker to minor league camp.
Ford’s unique speed and athleticism gives him a chance to be high-impact fantasy contributor at some point in the near future. Meanwhile, Young and Locklear are a bit underrated from a fantasy standpoint, depending on the source, but they figure to continue rising up dynasty rankings over the next few months. Young specifically has a chance to blossom into one of the top prospects in baseball as he ascends into the upper minors.

Trevor May fired a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Rangers to collect his 12th save of the season.
May received the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame against the heart of the Rangers’ lineup and managed to work around a pair of two-out singles to lock down the save. The 33-year-old veteran stopper combined with fellow relievers Austin Pruitt, Freddy Tarnok, Angel Felipe and Kirby Snead on a four-hit shutout in this one.
