Mets claimed RHP Kevin Herget off waivers from the Brewers.
Herget’s career numbers are not that impressive with a 4.64 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 42 2/3 innings pitched; however, he did post a 1.59 ERA and 9:3 K:BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings with the Brewers in 2024. That success came on the heels of a big uptick in cutter usage and the elimination of his slider, so perhaps the change in pitch mix might have unlocked another level for the 33-year-old.

With Nick Mears coming off the IL, the Brewers needed a space on the active roster and decided to send down Herget. The 33-year-old has a 1.59 ERA and 9:3 K:BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings with the Brewers this season.

Brewers activated RHP Nick Mears (forearm) from the IL
Mears was placed on the IL back on August 27th with forearm inflammation. Mears struggled to a 6.75 ERA in 11 games since coming over to the Brewers at the trade deadline. The team will likely hope to get him a few appearances to get right before the playoffs begin. Kevin Herget was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Brewers recalled RHP Kevin Herget from Triple-A Nashville.
Herget will get a last-minute chance to audition for the postseason roster. The Brewers have had little need for the journeyman, but he did post a 2.08 ERA in 8 2/3 innings for the club during the first half of the season. He’s amassed a 2.27 ERA and a 59/11 K/BB in 47 2/3 innings for Nashville.

Brewers recalled RHP Kevin Herget from Triple-A Nashville.
Herget already has one save and a 4.91 ERA in 3 2/3 innings out of the Brewers’ bullpen this year. He’s been solid in Triple-A, posting a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 19/4 K/BB ratio in 17 1/3 innings. Mitch White was waived in a corresponding move.

Kevin Herget recorded his second career save by allowing two runs over the final three innings Friday in the Brewers’ rout of the Cardinals.
Herget also had a three-inning save for the Reds last year. The 33-year-old was making his second appearance for the Brewers after being called up Monday. He’s made a total of 19 relief appearances in the majors since debuting with the Rays in 2021.

Brewers selected the contract of RHP Kevin Herget from Triple-A Nashville.
Herget was designated for assignment back in April, so the Brewers had to add him back to the 40-man roster to make this move. They did so with Jakob Junis being transferred to the 60-day injured list and Janson Junk being optioned to Triple-A.

Brewers sent RHP Kevin Hergert outright to Triple-A Nashville.
The 33-year-old hurler heads to the minors after he went unclaimed. Hergert signed a minor league deal with Milwaukee in the offseason and was brought up to the active roster earlier this month, but didn’t make an appearance. He has been outrighted before in his career, so he could elect free agency but that’s yet to be determined.

Brewers designated RHP Kevin Herget for assignment.
Herget is booted from the 40-man roster to make room for Corbin Martin after Martin was claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks. If Herget goes unclaimed, he’ll likely report back to Triple-A Nashville.
