  • NYY First Baseman #36
Kendry Morales went 2-for-4 and hit his 10th Double-A home run yesterday for Arkansas.
Morales is hitting .253/.303/.456 in 48 games since being moved up to Double-A. Between two levels, he’s hit 15 homers in 70 games.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Kendrys Morales has announced his retirement from baseball.
Morales’ career ended with a whimper in 2019 when he batted just .194/.313/.253 over 53 games for the Athletics and Yankees. However, he had plenty of nice moments over his nice 13-year career, finishing with a .265/.327/.453 batting line and 213 home runs for the Angels, Mariners, Twins, Royals, Blue Jays, A’s and Yankees.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
    Yankees released 1B/DH Kendrys Morales.
Morales was designated for assignment last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. He is now a free agent but could struggle to attract offers. The 36-year-old has batted just .194 with a .566 OPS and two home runs in 201 plate appearances this season between the Athletics and Yankees.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Yankees activated 1B/DH Kendrys Morales from the 10-day injured list; designated him for assignment.
Morales is recovered from his left calf strain, but there’s no room for him on the Yankees’ roster at this point. The 36-year-old hit just .177/.320/.242 with one homer over 19 games with New York.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Yankees placed 1B/DH Kendrys Morales on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.
Morales had arguably his best game of the season on Tuesday against the Mets, going 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, but he apparently injured his calf at some point during that tilt. He’ll probably be sidelined for at least two weeks. Mike Tauchman has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding 25-man roster move.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Kendrys Morales popped his second homer of the season in Friday’s comeback win over the Rays.
It was a long solo shot which traveled to the second deck in right field. Keep in mind that Morales had just one home run in 126 plate appearances before being cut loose by the Athletics. There’s opportunity in the Yankees’ lineup right now and Morales could deliver some interesting short-term value in deeper fantasy formats.
  • Relief Pitcher #34
Yankees optioned RHP Joe Harvey to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Harvey is being sent down to make room for Kendrys Morales, who is with the Yankees and in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Orioles on Wednesday. He owns a 5.40 ERA over eight games for New York, and he’ll likely be back with New York at some point this season.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Yankees acquired 1B/DH Kendrys Morales from the Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Morales was designated for assignment by Oakland on Monday after batting just .204/.310/.259 with one home run in 126 plate appearances to open the 2019 regular season, but he had some success in the American League East last year with the Blue Jays. The 35-year-old will presumably work as a part-time DH for the Yankees, whenever he joins their active roster.
  • NYY First Baseman #36
Athletics designated 1B/DH Kendrys Morales for assignment.
Morales was batting just .204/.310/.259 with one home run through 126 plate appearances this season with Oakland. The 35-year-old figures to pass through waivers unclaimed before landing on the free agent market. Oakland acquired Morales from the Blue Jays in late March, shortly after Matt Olson suffered a fractured hamate bone in Japan. Olson has since returned to the Athletics’ active roster.
  • MLB Designated Hitter #11
Khris Davis (hip) remained out of the Athletics’ lineup Friday.
The A’s had been hopeful that Davis would be ready to go for the series opener versus the Indians, but that’s not the case. He has made it through just half of one game since he suffered a left hip contusion on Sunday. Kendrys Morales is in the designated hitter spot Friday.
