    Diamondbacks released RHP Kendall Graveman.
Graveman was DFA’d on Monday after amassing a 7.13 ERA and a 9/12 K/BB in 17 2/3 innings out of the Arizona bullpen.

Diamondbacks designated RHP Kendall Graveman for assignment.
Graveman was the biggest name left in the Arizona pen, but he hasn’t impressed this year after missing last season due to shoulder surgery and then opening up back on the IL with a lumbar strain. Giving up three runs in an inning on Sunday left him with a 7.13 ERA and a 9/12 K/BB in 17 2/3 innings.

Kyle Backhus pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings for his first major league save Monday against the Padres.
Kendall Graveman probably would have pitched the ninth tonight had the Diamondbacks not scored a run to make it a 6-2 game in the eighth. Backhus stayed in afterwards and notched the save in his 16th major league appearance. The final out came on a 407-foot fly from Fernando Tatis Jr. that would have been a homer in 12 ballparks. It’s unlikely that Backhus will be worth rostering going forward.

Kyle Nelson recorded his first major league save while allowing one run in the ninth Sunday against the Athletics.
It came in his 133rd career relief appearance. Nelson, who just made his season debut Friday, retired three of four batters, with a JJ Bleday homer mixed in. He was a surprising choice in the ninth, but it seems the Diamondbacks didn’t want to use Kevin Ginkel after he threw 20 pitches on Saturday. Kendall Graveman would probably be the top alternative to Ginkel in the Arizona pen, but he tossed a perfect eighth against the heart of the lineup today.

Diamondbacks activated RHP Kendall Graveman from the 15-day injured list.
Graveman rejoined Arizona’s relief mix for Friday’s game against the Angels after missing just over one month recovering from a right hip impingement.

Kendall Graveman (hip) threw a bullpen session for the first time on Friday since landing on the injured list with a right hip impingement.
Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo noted that everything went well with the session. The team will wait and see how he’s feeling on Saturday before determining the next step in his progression. Graveman has been shelved since June 9 due to the hip issue.

Diamondbacks placed RHP Kendall Graveman on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 8, with a right hip impingement.
Graveman is likely to miss at least a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario. The 34-year-old veteran reliever has posted an inflated 8.64 ERA across 8 1/3 innings (nine appearances) since returning from the injured list back in mid-May.

Diamondbacks activated RHP Kendall Graveman from the 15-day injured list.
Graveman missed all of last season recovering from shoulder surgery and missed the opening six-plus weeks of the 2025 campaign due to a back issue. The 34-year-old veteran figures to pitch in high-leverage spots and should make an impact for Arizona’s injury-depleted bullpen mix.

Kendall Graveman (back) is scheduled to pitch in his second minor league rehab game on Friday at Triple-A Reno.
The 34-year-old hurler has been sidelined since the last week of March due to a right lumbar strain. Given the current state of the Diamondbacks’ bullpen, Graveman can’t get back quickly enough. It’s unclear how long of a build up he’ll need, but Graveman could quickly work his way into a high-leverage role upon his return.

Kendall Graveman (back) will pitch at Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Graveman missed all of last season after shoulder surgery and then was sidelined during spring training with a lumbar strain. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Graveman would pitch on Wednesday at Triple-A Reno as he works his way back to the Arizona bullpen.
