Pirates LHP prospect Kelvin Marte cruised through six hitless innings Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Indianapolis.
He collected three strikeouts and only issued two walks. Marte just recently moved to the starting rotation, which explains why he was removed after only throwing 73 pitches. Louisville shortstop Jose Peraza ended the no-hit bid with a single off Edgar Santana to begin the seventh inning. The 28-year-old Marte is still looking to make his big league debut after spending the last 10 years in the minor leagues.

Pirates purchased the contract of LHP Kelvin Marte from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Marte has registered a 3.67 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 57/21 K/BB ratio in 73 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He will presumably work in middle relief.

Pirates designated LHP Kelvin Marte for assignment.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. Marte was just called up at the end of August and allowed five runs (none earned) over 3 1/3 innings.

Pirates sent LHP Kelvin Marte outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The left-hander was designated for assignment earlier in the week, but passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as bullpen depth for the Pirates.

Marlins signed LHP Kelvin Marte to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Marte made two appearances with the Pirates in 2016 and posted a 3.67 ERA and 57/21 K/BB ratio over 73 2/3 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis. The 29-year-old offers bullpen depth from the left side.

Pirates signed LHP Kelvin Marte to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 28-year-old southpaw spend the 2015 season in the Giants organization where he compiled a 2.63 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77/40 K/BB ratio over 130 innings, primarily as a starter. He adds quality rotation depth for the Bucs.
