White Sox released 2B Kean Wong.
Wong was traded to the White Sox back in mid-June from the Mariners and didn’t end up making it to Chicago. The 28-year-old journeyman infielder last appeared in the majors for the Angels during the 2021 season when he got into a career-high 32 games. He’s batted a solid .270/.379/.405 with five homers and five steals across 174 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level.

White Sox acquired INF Kean Wong from the Mariners for cash considerations.
It’s a small depth move for the White Sox, who add some extra defensive depth at Triple-A Charlotte with Zach Remillard getting the call to the majors on Thursday night. Wong last appeared in the majors during the 2021 campaign when he got into 32 games for the Angels.

  • SEA Catcher #72
Mariners reassigned C Harry Ford, RHP’s J.B. Bukauskas, Bryce Miller and José Rodriguez and INF’s Kean Wong and Leo Rivas to minor league camp.
The latest batch of cuts trims the Mariners’ spring roster to just 43 players. Ford is the most notable inclusion following an epic run with Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic. Bukauskas is the most likely to make an impact this season out of Seattle’s bullpen.

Mariners signed INF Kean Wong to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Wong will join his older brother, Kolten, in the Mariners’ clubhouse this spring, which is pretty fun. The 27-year-old infielder last appeared in the majors with the Angels during the 2021 season when he got into a career-high 32 games. He batted .262/.342/.332 with three homers and 41 stolen bases across 565 plate appearances last year for Triple-A Salt Lake.

  • MIL Relief Pitcher #59
Angels optioned RHP Elvis Peguero, LHP Jhonathan Diaz and 3B Brendon Davis to Triple-A Salt Lake; reassigned RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon, INF Kean Wong, RHP’s Davis Daniel and Luis Ledo, SS Jacob Gatewood and OF Dillon Thomas to minor league camp.
No real surprises among the first round of cuts from Angels’ big-league camp. Perhaps the most notable inclusion is Ponce de Leon, who was vying for a spot in Los Angeles’s Opening Day rotation.

Wong slashed just .167/.194/.233 in 66 plate appearances last season for the Halos, but he is a versatile defender. It’s a depth addition to cover various areas of the roster.
