Rockies optioned INF Adael Amador, OF Yanquiel Fernandez, and RHPs Angel Chivilli and Juan Mejia to Double-A Hartford; optioned RHP Noah Davis to Triple-A Albuquerque; reassigned RHPs Karl Kauffmann, Jeff Criswell, Chance Adams, OF Zac Veen and INF Sterlin Thompson to minor league camp.
Amador blossomed last year into one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape from a dynasty standpoint as his contact skills put him on the potential fast track to the majors as he enters his age-21 season. Fernandez, Veen and Thompson also have a great deal of fantasy potential, if they ascend to the big leagues in Colorado down the line.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Karl Kauffmann picked up a victory over the Brewers in his Cactus League debut on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit over his 2 1/3 innings of work.
Kauffmann served up a long solo homer to William Contreras in the opening inning, but that would be the only baserunner that he would allow over 2 1/3 frames. He didn’t record a single strikeout though, getting four outs via the ground ball and three on fly outs. Even with a strong spring, The 26-year-old right-hander is unlikely to crack the team’s Opening Day rotation, though we should see him make starts for the Rockies throughout the 2024 campaign.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Rockies sent RHP Karl Kauffmann outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
It’s the first career outright assignment for Kauffmann so he’s forced to stick around with the Rockies as extra organizational pitching depth. The 26-year-old rookie right-hander, who is now off Colorado’s 40-man roster, posted a calamitous 8.23 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 16/16 K/BB ratio over 35 innings (11 appearances, three starts) this season in the big leagues.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Karl Kauffmann was obliterated in Saturday’s loss to the Twins, surrendering eight runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
The 26-year-old hurler also issued two walks while striking out two in the ballgame. The Twins got to him early and often in this one, but the biggest blow against him came on a grand slam off the bat of Trevor Larnach in the third inning. Kauffmann got six swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 21 percent. Kauffmann finishes the 2023 campaign with a highly disappointing 8.23 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and a 16/16 K/BB ratio over 35 innings in 11 appearances (three starts) for the Rockies.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Rockies recalled RHP Karl Kauffmann from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Kauffmann rejoins Colorado’s pitching mix heading into Wednesday’s contest against the Dodgers. The 26-year-old righty has made nine appearances (three starts) this season in the big leagues.

Rockies optioned RHP Karl Kauffmann to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old hurler was called up before the first game of Saturday’s twin bill, then optioned back out after earning a victory in relief — giving up just one unearned run on two hits across four innings of work. Kauffmann walked three and struck out four in the contest. If he doesn’t get another opportunity at the big league level this season, at least he was able to finish his year on a high note.

Rockies recalled RHP Karl Kauffmann from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Kauffmann provides the Rockies with some additional pitching depth with Peter Lambert (biceps) landing on the injured list ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader. The 26-year-old righty has made eight appearances (three starts) this season in the majors for Colorado.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Rockies optioned RHP Karl Kaufmann to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old right-hander — and second round pick from the 2019 draft — has not fared well in his first season at the big league level. In eight appearances (three starts) Kaufmann has posted a miserable 8.42 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and just a 9/11 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings. He’ll continue to refine his craft at the Triple-A level.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #51
Rockies recalled RHP Karl Kauffmann from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies are low on pitching options, so Kauffman is back for another look despite having posted a 6.89 ERA in 16 starts for Albuquerque. He has an 8.72 ERA in three starts and three relief appearances for the Rockies this season.

Rockies optioned RHP Karl Kauffmann to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 25-year-old actually pitched well in a victory over the Nationals on Monday night, giving up just one run on two hits over four strong innings. Unfortunately, he wasn’t going to be available for a few days now, so the Rockies wanted to get a fresh arm into their bullpen. He should get another shot with the big league club before season’s end.
