Rays optioned OF Kameron Misner to Triple-A Durham.
Misner went 1-for-15 with 10 strikeouts in eight games in his first major league action. The former first round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft will head back to the minors, where he’s hit .247 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI this year.
  • TB Right Fielder #10
Dylan Carlson is starting in left field and batting third for the Rays on Thursday.
The former top prospect has not lived up to expectations in St. Louis but has been better since being traded to Tampa Bay, slashing .267/.353/.489 with three home runs, nine RBI, and two steals in 15 games. The Rays are currently playing him part-time but not in any sort of strict platoon, so it’s never certain when Carlson was going to be in the lineup. Given that his competition is Jonny DeLuca, Jose Siri, and Kameron Misner, Carlson should probably be given regular starts to see if the 25-year-old can recapture some of his prospect magic.

Rays recalled OF Kameron Misner from Triple-A Durham.
It’s the first trip to the show for the 26-year-old outfielder who was originally a first-round selection by the Marlins from the 2019 draft. Misner has had a strong season at Triple-A Durham, slashing .247/.356/.446 with 15 homers, 45 RBI, 27 stolen bases and a 132/59 K/BB ratio over 433 plate appearances. He could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues if it looks like he’s going to see regular playing time with the Rays.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the Rays are calling up outfielder Kameron Misner on Friday.
It’ll be Misner getting his first call up to the majors on Friday with Richie Palacios heading to the injured list with a hyperextended right knee. The 26-year-old outfielder has posted an .801 OPS with 15 homers and 27 steals this season for Triple-A Durham.

The Mariners are set to acquire Randy Arozarena from the Rays for outfielder Aidan Smith, RHP Brody Hopkins and a PTBN.
That definitely solves one issue with Seattle’s lineup. Arozarena will presumably play left field in Seattle, resulting in more time at first base and DH for Luke Raley. It’s not great for his fantasy value, as he’s going from a poor park from hitters to perhaps the worst in the game, but neither does it figure to be a disaster. Smith, the Mariners’ fourth-round pick last year, has upped his stock by hitting .284/.402/.470 as a 18-year-old in high-A ball this season. He’s a couple of years away, but he has a chance to become a quality outfielder. We assume the PTBN will also be a significant prospect. The Rays could call up Kameron Misner to help out in the outfield against righties with Arozarena gone.
  • TB Shortstop
The Rays optioned SS/3B Junior Caminero and INF/OF Greg Jones, INF Austin Shenton and RHP Yoniel Curet to Triple-A Durham; reassigned OFs Ruben Cardenas, Niko Hulsize, Kameron Misner, Tristan Peters, C Logan Driscoll, LHP Antonio Jimenez, RHP Enmanuel Mejia, INFs Tanner Murray and Carson Williams to minor league camp.
It’s now official that one of the top fantasy prospects in baseball will open the season in the minors. In nine spring games, the 20-year-old went 7-for-26 (.269) with one homer and four RBI. It was reported earlier in February that the team was unlikely to have Caminero on the Opening Day roster due to his inexperience at the professional level. We’ll see if the team decides to play him at shortstop or third base given the Amed Rosario signing this offseason, but expect the young prospect to be called up if there is an injury on that side of the infield. The other notable name here is Carson Williams, who has some diverging opinions from scouts and evaluations, but is generally viewed as one of the most promising middle infield prospects in the game entering this season.

Kameron Misner was credited with an inside-the-park homer in one of his two at-bats off the bench against the Tigers on Sunday.
The homer was awarded on a popup to shallow left that was kicked 50 feet away by the shortstop. Why even have errors at this point?

Rays reassigned OFs Kameron Misner and Tristan Peters and Cs Blake Hunt and Logan Driscoll to minor league camp.
Misner was acquired from the Marlins in exchange for versatile infielder Joey Wendle back in 2021.

Rays acquired OF Kameron Misner from the Marlins for INF Joey Wendle.
Misner, the 35th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft out of the University of Missouri, batted .253/.355/.433 with 12 home runs and 26 stolen bases in 102 games this past summer between High-A Beloit and Double-A Pensacola. He’s a toolsy outfield prospect, but he also turns 24 years old in January.

Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports that the Marlins are closing in on signing 2019 draft pick Kameron Misner.
The Marlins had the fourth and 35th pick in the draft, and they took Misner with the later out of Missouri. Earlier on Wednesday, Miami was able to come to terms with Bleday -- the fourth pick of the draft -- and that gives them a better idea of the allocated funds left to sign Misner. The Marlins have until Friday to sign Misner, and would gain the 36th pick in the draft if they were unable to come to terms. It doesn’t sound like it will come to that, however.
