Rockies re-signed INF Julio Carreras to a minor league contract.
Carreras returns to Colorado as extra organizational infield depth after batting .237/.290/.344 with two homers and 25 steals in 339 plate appearances last year for Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • COL Third Baseman #83
Rockies sent INF Julio Carreras outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Carreras was designated for assignment over the weekend and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 24-year-old infielder has been removed from Colorado’s 40-man roster, but will still remain with the organization.

The Rockies optioned INF Julio Carreras, INF/OF Hunter Goodman, and RHPs Gavin Hollowell and Riley Pint to Triple-A; Reassigned C Braxton Fulford and OF Jordan Beck to minor league camp.
The Rockies now have 42 active players on in spring camp. Carreras, 24, didn’t make the most of his opportunity in camp going 5-for-27 (.185 AVG), but did show off his power and speed with three of those hits turning into doubles. He spent most of his time in Double-A last season, but while up at Triple-A he slashed .255/.371/.373 in 62 plate appearances.

Rockies optioned RHP’s Riley Pint and Blair Calvo to Triple-A Albuquerque and INF’s Warming Bernaebl and Julio Carreras to Double-A Hartford.
The quartet will open the regular season in the minors after spending the rest of the spring on the minor league side of camp. Pint just resumed throwing after being shut down for a few weeks due to an oblique strain. He has a chance to make his major league debut sometime this season.

Rockies selected the contract of infielder Julio Carreras.
Carreras, 22, hit .281/.346/.457 in in a 2022 season spent mostly in high-A ball. He projects pretty well in the power department, and though he probably won’t stay at shortstop, he could fit nicely at third base. There’s hope for him as a major league regular.
