Diamondbacks reassigned RHP Austin Adams, RHP Austin Brice, C Juan Centeno, LHP Sam Clay and RHP Michel Otañez to minor league camp.
Adams isn’t yet ready to pitch after flexor tendon surgery last August. Once healthy, he could be capable of helping the Diamondbacks out of the pen. He had a 4.10 ERA for the Padres in 2021 before missing almost all of last year.

  • FA Catcher #56
Diamondbacks signed C Juan Centeno to a minor league contract.
Centeno is a career .223/.278/.323 hitter in 373 plate appearances for various clubs. The 32-year-old backstop provides organizational depth, but will likely spend most -- if not all -- of his time with Triple-A Reno.

  • FA Catcher #56
Tigers signed C Juan Centeno to a minor league contract.
He will give the Tigers some catching depth at their alternate site. Centeno hasn’t played in the majors since 2019.

  • FA Catcher #56
Red Sox re-assigned C Juan Centeno, C Jhonny Pereda, INF Ryder Jones, OF Cesar Puello, and INF Stetson Allie to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Centeno was battling for a spot to back up Christian Vazquez, but he’ll instead open the delayed 2020 season at Triple-A as minor league depth behind the plate.

  • FA Catcher #56
Red Sox re-signed C Juan Centeno to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Centeno elected free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Pawtucket after he was designated for assignment in November. The backstop hit .248/.321/.350 over 81 games at the Triple-A level last year, and spent seven games with Boston after a September call-up. He’ll likely spend most -- if not all -- of the 2020 season in the International League again.
  • FA Catcher #56
Juan Centeno has elected to become a free agent.
Centeno will seek a new deal on the open market rather than accept an outright assignment from the Red Sox. The 29-year-old appeared in seven games as a September call-up after batting .248/.321/.350 over 81 games in Triple-A this year.
  • FA Catcher #56
Red Sox purchased the contract of catcher Juan Centeno from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Centeno gets the nod as the Red Sox’s third catcher this month. The veteran backstop, best known for his arm, hit .248/.321/.350 for Pawtucket.
  • FA Catcher #56
Red Sox signed C Juan Centeno to a minor league contract.
Centeno appeared in just 10 games at the major league level in 2018, batting .162/.184/.270 over 38 plate appearances with the Rangers. The 28-year-old will be nothing more than minor league catching depth for the Red Sox.
  • FA Catcher #56
Mets recalled C Juan Centeno from Triple-A Las Vegas.
This will be the first time in the big leagues for the 23-year-old backstop. He’s had a nice season between Double-A and Triple-A, hitting .301/.339/.373 with 31 RBI and a 12/29 BB/K ratio in 236 at-bats. He’ll provide additional depth behind the plate for the remainder of the season.

Travis d’Arnaud (shoulder) is out of Wednesday’s lineup against the Giants.
D’Arnaud left Tuesday’s game with a sore right shoulder and is getting the day off to recuperate. Juan Centeno will make his major league debut behind the plate Wednesday.
