Nationals placed RHP Josiah Gray on the 60-day injured list.
Gray underwent Tommy John surgery in late July, so he might have a tough time making it back before the end of this season. The Nationals tendered him over the winter anyway, and they’ll have him under control for two more years beyond this one.

Josiah Gray (elbow) has progressed to flat-ground throwing.
Gray is making steady progress in his lengthy recovery from last year’s Tommy John surgery that also included an internal brace procedure. The 27-year-old righty figures to rejoin Washington’s starting rotation mix at some point in the second half of the year.

Josiah Gray (elbow) resumed throwing on Monday.
Gray is roughly six months removed from undergoing Tommy John surgery with an internal brace procedure and isn’t expected to be an option for the Nationals until sometime in the second half of next season. The 27-year-old former top pitching prospect has struggled at the highest level since coming over the Washington back in 2021, but he still misses enough bats that we’re keeping an eye on his stuff as he continues his lengthy rehabilitation process.

Nationals and RHP Josiah Gray avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.35 million contract.
Gray underwent Tommy John surgery in June and figures to miss at least the first four months of the season. The 27-year-old has a career 4.94 ERA in 73 starts and one relief appearance as a major leaguer.

The Nationals announced Wednesday that right-hander Josiah Gray underwent successful Tommy John surgery and also had an internal brace procedure performed.
The 26-year-old hurler will miss the remainder of the 2024 season — and most of the 2025 campaign — while recovering from the procedure. The hope is that he’ll come back stronger and better than ever for the start of the 2026 season.

Josiah Gray will miss the rest of the season with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament that will require surgery.
Gray is set for elbow surgery next week. The 26-year-old had a 14.04 ERA in two starts with the Nationals this year. This is another case of a pitcher with an elbow flexor strain needing season-ending elbow surgery. The surgery will be preformed by Dr. Keith Meister in Texas. They won’t know if Gray needs Tommy John surgery or an internal brace procedure until the actual surgery. Gray will miss the rest of this season and at least part of next season.

Nationals transferred RHP Josiah Gray from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a right elbow flexor strain.
The move was made to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Juan Yepez. It’s unclear when Gray might return from his elbow trouble, but it won’t be anytime soon given the transfer to the 60-day IL. He had a 14.04 ERA in two starts for Washington this season.

Josiah Gray felt discomfort in his right elbow following his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Rochester.
The hope was that Gray would be able to rejoin the Nationals’ rotation after that rehab start. Instead, the 26-year-old felt the same discomfort he did in April, and now will undergo an MRI on his right elbow. It’s very unlikely Gray makes a start with Washington now in the coming days, and his return may not be able to come until after the All-Star break. just when he gets back on the bump will largely be determined by the results of the imaging.

Josiah Gray (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A Rochester on Sunday before rejoining the Nationals’ rotation.
The expectation had been that Gray would return for his next start after hurling six innings of one-run ball at Triple-A Rochester his last time out. The Nationals want to make sure he’s ready to go when he does return though, so one final tune-up in the minors it will be. It’s not clear who will get bumped from the Nationals’ rotation to accommodate his return, though DJ Herz is one option, or Patrick Corbin could get shifted to the bullpen.

Josiah Gray (elbow) allowed one run over six innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Rochester.
Gray struck out four, didn’t hand out a free pass, and got up to around 90 pitches in his latest rehab outing. The 26-year-old righty should be ready to return to Washington’s starting rotation at some point later this week or early next week. He’s been on the shelf since early April due to a flexor strain in his right elbow.
