Rockies sent LHP Josh Rogers outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
It’s merely a procedural move to jettison Rogers from Colorado’s 40-man roster. The 30-year-old lefty has made six relief appearances this season for the Rockies and is merely emergency depth at this stage of his career.

Rockies optioned LHP Josh Rogers to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Rogers was called up Sunday and allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief before picking up a stunning win in the Rockies’ comeback against the Braves. Alas, it wasn’t enough to keep him around for more than a day.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies selected the contract of LHP Josh Rogers.
Rogers is up now to provide some depth in the bullpen with Dakota Hudson (elbow) heading to the injured list. There is somehow less than zero fantasy relevance for Rogers.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies sent LHP Josh Rogers outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Rogers has the option to elect free agency after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old southpaw made five relief appearances for the Rockies earlier this year prior to be designated for assignment earlier this week.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies designated LHP Josh Rogers for assignment.
The move opened up a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster earlier this week for the club to claim Antoine Kelly from the Rangers. Rogers has made just five relief appearances this season in his Rockies debut. The 30-year-old lefty could wind up sticking around as extra organizational depth if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies reinstated LHP Josh Rogers off the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Rogers will continue to pitch in Triple-A, but now not in a rehab role. The 30-year-old was placed on the injured list with a strained left rotator cuff, and probably will see time with the Rockies again before the season comes to a close.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies placed LHP Josh Rogers on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 14, with a strained left rotator cuff.
Rogers hadn’t pitched since giving up two runs in two-thirds of an inning Wednesday. The former Oriole and National had giving up seven runs and struck out two in 9 1/3 innings out of the Rockies bullpen.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #37
Pitching behind a bulk guy, Josh Rogers threw five innings of two-run ball and earned a win Monday against the Guardians.
It’s Rogers’ first win as a major leaguer since May 14, 2022, though he hadn’t made an appearance in the majors since the conclusion of that season. Having given the Rockies the innings they needed today, he might return to Triple-A now.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #61
Rockies placed RHP Justin Lawrence on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
The move was retroactive to May 26th, but the club may not feel the need to rush the 29-year-old back. Lawrence has a 5.91 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 21 1/3 innings with three blown saves. He has not pitched well enough for the Rockies to trust him at the end of games and should not be on many fantasy rosters. Josh Rogers was called up in a corresponding move.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #37
Rockies re-signed LHP Josh Rogers to a minor league contract.
Rogers spent all of last year at Triple-A Albuquerque in Colorado’s minor league system and will presumably do it again in 2024 as emergency pitching depth. The 29-year-old southpaw hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2022 campaign when he made 16 appearances (three starts) for the Nationals.
