USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale reports rival NL executives believe the Diamondbacks are making Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly available at the trade deadline.
No major surprise. The quartet are all slated to hit the free agent market this upcoming offseason, which makes them attractive rentals for contenders in either league, as the injury-ravaged Diamondbacks prepare to pivot towards the 2026 season instead. Suárez, who launched two homers during Saturday’s loss to the Angels, is well on his way to the first 50-homer campaign of his career with a whopping 31 round-trippers heading into the All-Star break. Gallen and Kelly would be two of the bigger names available at the upcoming deadline from a starting pitching standpoint.

Josh Naylor is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Padres.
Naylor has been battling through shoulder and neck issues recently so the Diamondbacks are going to give him a break on Wednesday night from facing Padres ace Dylan Cease. That honor goes to rookie Tristin English, who will be making his first career start in this one. Good luck, kid.

The Athletic’s Jayson Stark reports that Josh Naylor could be a major trade deadline target for many teams.
The Diamondbacks are not guaranteed to be sellers at the deadline, but they are currently two games under .500 and 11.5 games out of first place in the division. With Corbin Burnes, Justin Martinez, and A.J. Puk all out for the season, the team may not climb back into the playoff race enough by the time the deadline rolls around. In that case, Stark reports that many executives believe Naylor “could be the best bat traded this month.” Wherever he goes, he will remain a full-time starter, so Naylor’s fantasy value could only improve in a new park or with a deeper lineup.

Josh Naylor is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Giants.
It’s not known if this is a day off related to the neck injury that sidelined Naylor, a chance to get a break against a tough left-hander in Robbie Ray or both. The 28-year-old will sit with Tim Tawa getting the start at first base.

Josh Naylor (neck) is in the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Giants.
Let’s try this again. Naylor makes his return to Arizona’s lineup at DH on Wednesday night following a four-game absence due to neck spasms. It’s the type of issue that can be persistent and tends to linger so the hope for fantasy managers is that the extra time off put the issue to bed. The 28-year-old first baseman has put together an excellent Diamondbacks debut so far, hitting .304 with 10 homers and 10 steals through 77 games.

Josh Naylor (neck) was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Giants.
The Diamondbacks aren’t going to take any chances and will give Naylor another night off to recover from neck spasms. It’ll be Randal Grichuk taking over at DH in his place. The 28-year-old first baseman will miss his fourth straight contest due to the ongoing issue. It doesn’t sound like he’s in jeopardy of requiring a trip to the injured list.

Josh Naylor (neck) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Giants.
Naylor is back at DH and batting cleanup on Tuesday night following a three-game absence due to neck spasms. The 28-year-old first baseman, who could be one of the biggest names potentially on the move at the trade deadline, has put together a stellar Arizona debut, hitting .304 with 10 homers and 10 steals through 77 games.

Josh Naylor (neck) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Giants.
It’ll be Pavin Smith taking over at the cold corner with Naylor on the bench for the third consecutive game due to neck spasms. The Diamondbacks aren’t in a position to take any chances with one of their key offensive cogs, so Naylor will get some extra time off to rest and recover until the lingering issue subsides. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Josh Naylor (neck) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals.
Arizona is going to give Naylor some extra rest during Sunday’s contest as he continues to battle a lingering neck issue that cropped up during Friday’s game. It’ll be Pavin Smith moving over to cover first base in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider Naylor day-to-day heading into Monday’s series opener against the Giants.

Josh Naylor (neck) is not in the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Saturday’s ballgame against the Nationals.
Naylor was removed from Friday night’s contest against the Diamondbacks due to stiffness in his neck. While it doesn’t sound like it’ll require a trip to the injured list, the Diamondbacks will take a cautious approach here and keep him out for an extra day. Pavin Smith will cover first base in his stead on Saturday afternoon and will bat third for the Diamondbacks.
