José Suarez allowed five hits and three runs with five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Apologies to anyone who streamed Suarez against the hapless White Sox looking for either a win or quality start. He made Chicago’s lineup seem competent as they made consistent hard contact and smacked two home runs. This came after he shut the Astros out over five innings in his last start. Isn’t baseball the best?

José Suarez allowed one run in six innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Thursday.
Suarez was making his first start as a member of the rotation and it went very well. The left-hander struck out five and allowed just three hits against a quality Houston lineup. Suarez will get one more start before the season ends, and it could bode well in attempting to win a rotation spot to begin 2025.

José Suarez will take Sam Aldegheri’s (finger) place in the rotation.
Carson Fulmer (elbow) was activated Sunday, but the right-hander will pitch in the bullpen instead. Suarez should be stretched out enough for the chance to qualify for wins, but keep in mind he plays for the Angels. There’s not much fantasy significance here.

José Suarez converted a three-inning save while blanking the Twins on Monday over those innings with four strikeouts.
Remember, the (insane) rules for getting a save include one where if you pitch the final three innings, it doesn’t matter what the score is. Suarez was able to take advantage of that role, but he did pitch well while not allowing a hit. The southpaw was just recalled from Salt Lake on Monday, and he likely will pitch in this type of role going forward as long as he’s a member of the roster.

Angels selected the contract of LHP José Suarez from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Suarez returns to the majors after posting a 6.54 ERA for Triple-A Salt Lake. He did have a fine 62/17 K/BB in 52 1/3 innings, and there’s a good reason why the Angels like to promote their pitching prospects straight from Double-A. Suarez will apparently be available out of the pen tonight. The Angels already have a six-man rotation, and there’s no word yet of anyone being scratched.

Angels sent LHP José Suarez outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Suarez was designated for assignment last Monday but went through waivers unclaimed and will remain in the Angels’ organization. He could get another shot in the rotation later this season given all the injuries facing the pitching staff.

Angels designated LHP José Suarez for assignment.
It was pretty obvious this was coming after Suarez gave up five runs in an inning Sunday against the Giants. It left the 26-year-old with an 8.15 ERA in 35 1/3 innings this season and an 8.22 ERA in 69 innings since the beginning of last year. He was pretty good between 2021 and ’22 (16-16, 3.86 ERA, 188/69 K/BB in 207 1/3 IP), and another franchise might have more luck with him.

José Suarez gave up five runs while getting just three outs Sunday to take a loss to the Giants.
Suarez took over in the third after Ben Joyce pitched two scoreless innings and actually opened up with a scoreless frame. Alas, he got no one out in the fourth, and he and Hunter Strickland combined to give up nine runs, quickly turning this one into a laugher. Suarez has an 8.15 ERA in 35 1/3 innings this season. It wouldn’t be any sort of surprise to see him DFA’d in the coming days.

Making his first start of the year, José Suarez took a loss after allowing four runs in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
Suarez didn’t exactly earn this assignment with his 6.54 ERA in 16 relief appearances, but the Angels didn’t have anyone they wanted to call up. Suarez could return to the pen now with Chase Silseth expected back.

José Suarez was charged with five runs in 4 1/3 innings of relief work Tuesday against the Reds.
Suarez came into this one having allowed two runs in 7 2/3 innings. He appears to be the Angels’ sixth starter at this point; he doesn’t deserve a spot ahead of Chase Silseth, but he should be next in line if something opens up.
