Red Sox signed RHP José De León to a minor league contract.
De León made the announcement on his Instagram account. The 32-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2023 after making a career-high 12 appearances for the Twins. He represents a low-risk addition for the Red Sox as extra organizational depth.

Twins sent RHP José De León outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
De León showed impressive stuff this season, but he required Tommy John surgery in July and should miss most or all of 2024. He’ll become a free agent.

Twins transferred RHP José De León to the 60-day injured list.
De Leon’s career is at another crossroads after undergoing another Tommy John surgery last month. He’s expected to be sidelined until the late stages of the 2024 campaign. The procedural move opened up a spot on Minnesota’s 40-man roster for veteran southpaw Dallas Keuchel.

José De León underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
There’s a chance that De León’s career could be over as he underwent several elbow procedures in addition to a UCL reconstruction. The 30-year-old righty was in the midst of a strong season for Minnesota before landing on the injured list last month. He’ll be sidelined until at least the late stages of the 2024 campaign.

The Twins announced Monday that right-hander José De León will undergo his second Tommy John surgery.
The decision was made after his recent MRI revealed a torn ligament in his right elbow. It’s a crushing blow for the 30-year-old hurler who put in so much work to get back to the big league level. He’ll miss the remainder of the 2023 season — and at least the first half of the 2024 campaign — while recovering from the surgery.

Twins placed RHP José De León on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor muscle strain.
Yikes. After throwing a warmup pitch on Saturday, De León grabbed his elbow and immediately headed towards the Twins dugout. The team has not announced how severe the injury is, but the 30-year-old could be out for an extended period.

Jose De Leon suffered an apparent arm injury while warming up to enter Saturday’s game against the Tigers.
The right-hander was going to work the bottom of the eighth inning, but came leaping off the mound and grabbing at his right elbow after delivering a warm-up pitch and immediately sprinted to the dugout. He’ll head for further evaluation, but it certainly didn’t look good on the field on Saturday.

José De León opened with two perfect innings as six Twins combined to pitch a three-hitter Saturday in a 2-0 win over the Tigers.
Emilio Pagán, Brent Headrick, Brock Stewart, Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran combined on the shutout in a bullpen game. It’s great to see De León enjoying some success after all he’s dealt with. The former Dodgers top prospect, who reached the majors in 2016, had an 8.44 ERA in six starts and 16 relief appearances in an injury-filled career coming into the season. He has a 3.38 ERA and a 17/4 K/BB ratio in 16 innings for the Twins at the moment.

Twins selected the contract of RHP José De León from Triple-A St. Paul.
He’ll take the place of the injured Jorge Alcala in the Twins’ bullpen. On the season, the 30-year-old hurler has registered a 3.62 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 26/12 K/BB ratio over his 27 1/3 innings of work. He’ll give Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli another weapon to deploy in the middle innings.

Twins reassigned RHPs Jose De Leon and Jeff Hoffman to minor league camp.
Both made it down to the wire in their bids to secure a spot in the Twins’ Opening Day bullpen, but ultimately fell just short in their pursuits. De Leon made headlines on March 13 when he worked the first 5 2/3 innings of a perfect game for Puerto Rico against Israel in the World Baseball Classic.
