Phillies optioned INF/OF Weston Wilson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; reassigned RHP David Buchanan, OF Jordan Luplow and Cs Cam Gallagher and Aramis Garcia to minor league camp.
Wilson is the clear headliner here as he figures to be up and down this season in a bench role, as needed. He’s currently dealing with a left hand injury that he suffered during Thursday’s spring training contest. Luplow was picked up earlier this month and could be an option in a corner outfield spot, if necessary.
  • PHI Right Fielder #7
Jordan Luplow went 2-for-2 with a homer to help the Phillies tie a Blue Jays split-squad 5-5 on Sunday.
Luplow was playing in his first game since being released by the Braves at his own request on Thursday. He has four homers in 36 plate appearances this spring. We’re not really sure how he makes sense for the Phillies, but it’s possible the team will send down Johan Rojas or trade Cristian Pache to open up a spot.
  • PHI Right Fielder #7
Phillies signed OF Jordan Luplow to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 30-year-old lefty-masher was cut loose by the Braves on Thursday, but it didn’t take him long to find a new gig. He’ll add outfield depth for the Phillies and will compete for a spot on the club’s Opening Day bench. Either way, don’t expect him to see enough playing time to gain relevancy for fantasy purposes.
  • FA Right Fielder #7
    Braves released OF Jordan Luplow.
Luplow wasn’t going to make Atlanta’s season-opening roster, especially after the club brought back veteran slugger Adam Duvall to platoon with former prospect Jarred Kelenic, so he’s been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
  • ATL Right Fielder #7
Jordan Luplow hit a two-run homer and walked Thursday to power the Braves past the Red Sox 3-2.
The pitch before the homer also looked like it’d be gone, but it hooked just foul down the left field line. Luplow didn’t let it get him down, hammering the next Nick Pivetta offering a little more to the right. Luplow is 4-for-17 with two homers as he attempts to win a spot on Atlanta’s bench. Typically used against southpaws, he’d make more sense for the team if not for the pledge to give Jarred Kelenic a shot as an everyday player initially.
  • ATL Right Fielder #7
Braves signed OF Jordan Luplow to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Luplow posted a lackluster .647 OPS with two homers in 90 plate appearances last year between the Blue Jays and Twins. The 30-year-old lefty-mashing platoon outfielder has gotten into 361 games in the majors since 2017.
  • MIN Right Fielder #7
Twins sent OF Jordan Luplow outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
Luplow hit .206/.315/.349 in 73 plate appearances for the Twins. Even in Triple-A, he managed only a modest .760 OPS in 54 games, so things aren’t looking good for the 30-year-old lefty masher.
  • MIN Right Fielder #7
Twins recalled OF Jordan Luplow from Triple-A St. Paul.
It was announced earlier this week that Luplow was designated for assignment, but he was actually optioned to Triple-A. Regardless, he’s back in the big leagues with Royce Lewis (hamstring) hitting the injured list. The 29-year-old will give the Twins an experienced right-handed bat in the interim.
  • MIN Right Fielder #7
Twins sent OF Jordan Luplow outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
Luplow went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will stick around with Minnesota as extra organizational depth.
  • MIN Right Fielder #7
Twins designated OF Jordan Luplow for assignment.
The Twins needed to clear a spot on their active roster for Michael A. Taylor’s return on Monday and Luplow was unfortunately the odd-man out. the 29-year-old lefty-masher has hit just .231/.342/.369 with two homers, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 76 plate appearances on the season.
