Yankees placed RHP Jonathan Loáisiga on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 2, with right mid-back tightness.
There isn’t exactly a high-leverage role in New York’s bullpen mix for Loáisiga anymore with David Bednar and Camilo Doval joining Luke Weaver and Devin Williams in their newly-constructed super-pen. He’ll be out until at least mid-August.

Jonathan Loáisiga tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Rays to record his first save of the season.
On an afternoon where the Yankees added a couple additional closers to their relief mix, giving them four proven stoppers on the roster, it was Loáisiga that picked up a save against the division-rival Rays. The 30-year-old got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 13 pitches to slam the door. He’s unlikely to vulture any saves over the final two months with literally four closers in New York’s newly-constructed super-bullpen.

Jonathan Loáisiga is unavailable for Wednesday’s game against the Reds due to illness.
Loáisiga will be unavailable to pitch during Wednesday’s series finale in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, the club probably doesn’t have time to bring out a replacement, so they’ll go a man short in the bullpen.

Yankees activated RHP Jonathan Loaisiga off the 15-day injured list.
Loaisiga returns to the Yankees’ bullpen after missing the start of the season while recovering from an internal brace procedure on his right elbow. The 30-year-old will be a bridge to Luke Weaver in the mid-to-late innings, and that role helps New York a lot more than it will help fantasy managers.

Jonathan Loáisiga (elbow) threw two scoreless innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Loáisiga threw 19 pitches (14 strikes) in his first rehab outing at the Triple-A level. He’s expected to make a handful of additional rehab appearances over the next few days before returning to New York. The 30-year-old righty is working his way back after missing nearly all of last season recovering from flexor tendon surgery.

Jonathan Loáisiga (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Low-A Tampa.
Loáisiga is at least a couple weeks away from making it back to New York’s beleaguered relief corps after missing nearly all of last year recovering from flexor tendon surgery. The 30-year-old righty has plenty of high-leverage experience, so he’ll provide a lift for the Yankees once he’s back.

Jonathan Loáisiga (elbow) faced hitters on Wednesday in a live batting practice session.
Loáisiga is a couple throwing sessions away from heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old reliever should be ready to join New York’s relief mix at some point in late May or early June.

Jonathan Loáisiga (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Saturday at Double-A Somerset.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Loáisiga could potentially make his season debut in late May or early June. The 30-year-old reliever opened the year on the shelf continuing to recover from last year’s flexor tendon surgery that caused him the entire 2024 campaign.

Yankees placed RHP Jonathan Loáisiga on the 15-day injured list.
As expected, Loáisiga will open the regular season on the injured list. The 30-year-old righty is targeting a return to New York’s bullpen by late May or early June as he continues to recover from last year’s flexor tendon surgery that cost him all of last season.

Jonathan Loáisiga (elbow) said his goal is to return in late May or early June.
Loáisiga had flexor tendon surgery in April and missed essentially all of the 2024 season. He made it clear that he wanted to re-sign with the Yankees this off-season because he “felt [he] owed it to the team…and the fans.” Loáisiga will likely start the year on the 60-day IL but should be back in the Yankees’ bullpen over the summer.
