Rangers signed RHP Jonathan Holder to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Holder will be trying to make it back to the majors for the first time since 2020, when he finished up a run with the Yankees that saw him post a respectable 4.38 ERA in 176 2/3 innings over five seasons. The 30-year-old had a 5.40 ERA in 66 2/3 innings for the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate last season.

Angels signed RHP Jonathan Holder to a minor league contract.
The Angels continue bolstering their organizational pitching depth chart with another experienced big league arm. Holder hasn’t appeared in the majors since the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, and spent all of last year in the Cubs’ minor league system, but he was extremely good for the Yankees earlier in his career. The 29-year-old right-hander gives Los Angeles some additional relief depth heading into the 2023 season.

Cubs reassigned INF Ildemaro Vargas, RHPs Jonathan Holder and Robert Gsellman and LHPs Steven Brault and Stephen Gonsalves to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs have just 31 players left in major-league camp this spring after the latest round of cuts. No major surprises, but Vargas’s inclusion means that Chicago won’t have a true backup shortstop behind Nico Hoerner to open the regular season while Andrelton Simmons is out with a shoulder issue.

Cubs re-signed RHP Jonathan Holder to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Holder was jettisoned from the Cubs’ 40-man roster earlier this offseason but is returning on a minor-league pact after missing the entire 2021 season due to a shoulder injury. The 28-year-old righty holds a 4.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 165/53 K/BB ratio across 176 2/3 innings at the major-league level since 2016.

Jonathan Holder has elected free agency.
Holder went unclaimed on waivers after being removed from the Cubs’ 40-man roster earlier this week. The 28-year-old righty missed the entire 2021 campaign due to a right shoulder injury.

Cubs sent RHP Jonathan Holder outright to Triple-A Iowa.
Holder passed through waivers unclaimed and has been removed from the Cubs’ 40-man roster after missing the entire 2021 season due to a shoulder injury. He has the option to elect free agency and search for a new organization this offseason.

Jonathan Holder (shoulder) began a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with the Cubs’ Arizona Complex League affiliate.
Holder has missed the entire 2021 campaign due to a shoulder injury. There’s a chance he’s back at some point in September. The 28-year-old righty has recorded a career 4.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 165/53 K/BB ratio across 176 2/3 innings at the major-league level.

Cubs transferred RHP Jonathan Holder to the 60-day injured list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Tony Wolters. Holder has been out all season with a right shoulder strain.

Cubs placed RHP Jonathan Holder on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
There’s no timetable yet for Holder, who joined the Cubs on a one-year, $750,000 deal this winter.

Cubs signed RHP Jonathan Holder to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
It’s reportedly non-guaranteed, so Holder will have to make the Cubs’ major league roster to trigger that full $750,000 salary. The 27-year-old right-hander was non-tendered by the Yankees earlier this month and holds an ugly 5.86 ERA in 63 innings of work since the beginning of the 2019 season, but he’s been an effective reliever in the past and will look to rebound on the North Side of Chicago in 2021.
