Jonathan Cannon allowed nine hits over six six innings while allowing two runs Wednesday in a loss to the Royals.
Cannon only struck out one batter, but he was a Bobby Witt Jr. homer away from exiting the start unscatched. He has given up nine hits in back-to-back starts and still has been able to give up just four runs in those outings. Cannon has also been able to get deep into games with four consecutive outings of at least six innings, and he’ll look to make it five straight next week against the Reds.

Jonathan Cannon allowed nine hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts over six innings to earn the win over the Astros on Friday.
Cannon did well to scatter those nine hits just enough to evade damage after his lineup gave him a nice cushion to pitch with. He did so by throwing heaps of sinkers and cutters against this very right-handed heavy Astros lineup. His stuff is still uninspiring though and I’d proceed with caution, even in a favorable matchup coming up with the Royals.

Jonathan Cannon allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings in a win over the Athletics on Saturday.
Tyler Gilbert operated as the opener in this one, working around a walk with one strikeout in the first inning before handing it over to Jonathan Cannon. Cannon then followed with 7 2/3 solid innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five to earn the win. Cannon should be in line to either start or follow an opener Friday at home against the Astros.

Jonathan Cannon gave up four runs over six innings Monday in a loss to the White Sox.
10 hard-hit balls, including a homer, and four walks, could have resulted in a worse day for Cannon, but the Red Sox didn’t cash in outside of the third inning. Cannon dropped to 0-3 with a 4.81 ERA. He’ll face the A’s next.

Jonathan Cannon didn’t get a decision after working 4 1/3 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Athletics.
Cannon wasn’t very efficient, as he needed 83 pitches before bouncing in the fifth frame. However, he was effective with four strikeouts and just three hits allowed. That’s a vast improvement over his last few outings, as seen in an ERA of 4.42 even with the shutout frames. Obviously, this isn’t a good option for Monday’s projected start against the Red Sox.

Jonathan Cannon was shelled for six runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Guardians on Thursday.
Cannon did strike out six, but he allowed seven hits — two of them homers — and walked three in another unimpressive outing for the 24-year-old. The White Sox have now lost eight straight and might be bad at baseball again. Cannon shouldn’t be started against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Jonathan Cannon was charged with three runs in 3 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Tigers.
Cannon was impressive Saturday with five scoreless against the Angels. He didn’t face the Angels on Friday, and he wasn’t able to have nearly as much success against a pretty solid Detroit lineup. The right-hander allowed three walks, three hits, and struck out three in a start that wasn’t a disaster, but obviously isn’t close to a successful fantasy outing. There should be better options than Cannon when he faces the Guardians next week.

Jonathan Cannon fired five scoreless innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Angels.
Cannon struck out five, gave up four hits and issued three walks, but managed to keep Los Angeles off the scoreboard in this one. The 24-year-old righty was hit extremely hard in spring training, so this season-opening performance comes as nice surprise. He isn’t going to miss enough bats to make an impact for fantasy managers outside of extremely deep formats, but he’ll be worth keeping an eye on as a matchup-dependent streaming option.

Jonathan Cannon struggled on Monday against the Giants, allowing three runs over 3 1/3 innings.
Cannon walked three batters and only managed one strikeout against a watered-down San Francisco lineup. The 24-year-old righty was handed a spot in Chicago’s season-opening rotation earlier this month, but he’s not a recommended fantasy option given his lack of strikeout upside.

Jonathan Cannon was shelled for four runs over three innings on Tuesday against the Padres.
Cannon has been hit hard in three spring starts so far, allowing 10 runs on 16 hits, including four home runs, over eight innings of work. He’s locked into a spot in Chicago’s season-opening rotation, but he can be safely avoided in most fantasy leagues given his lack of strikeout upside.
