  • WAS Left Fielder #24
Joey Gallo was set to undergo an MRI exam on his injured hamstring on Friday.
The results of that exam are not yet known. The 30-year-old slugger sustained the injury on Tuesday while he was running out a ground ball in the seventh inning. While the severity of the injury remains unclear, it sounds like the Nationals expect him to be sidelined for a while this time around.

Nationals placed 1B/OF Joey Gallo on the 10-day IL with a hamstring strain.
Joey Gallo injured himself on Tuesday running out a seventh-inning grounder. The Nationals called up Trey Lipscomb to take Gallo’s place on the active roste, but it might be Joey Meneses who figures to gain the most playing time with Gallo out. While Meneses’ season-long stats aren’t great, he did hit .264/.323/.368 in 23 games in May with two home runs 13 RBI, and just a 21 percent strikeout rate. He could have some deep league value if he’s able to secure regular playing time over the next few weeks.

Joey Gallo left Tuesday’s game against the Tigers with an apparent injury.
Gallo appeared to suffer an apparent left hamstring injury running out a seventh-inning grounder and was replaced by Joey Meneses at the cold corner in the bottom of the frame.

Joey Gallo went 1-for-2 and drove in the Nationals’ lone run in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Mets.
Gallo led off the sixth inning with a single but was quickly erased on a double play ball. He then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly off of Luis Severino in the eighth inning to finally get the Nats on the board. The 30-year-old slugger has been about as expected this season — hitting .164/.285/.336 with five homers, 11 RBI and a 65/19 K/BB ratio over 151 plate appearances.
  • WAS Left Fielder #24
Nationals activated 1B/OF Joey Gallo from the 10-day injured list.
The 30-year-old slugger had been sidelined since late April with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. Prior to landing on the shelf, he was hitting just .122/.286/.311 with three homers, five RBI, one stolen base and a 43/15 K/BB ratio across 91 plate appearances. He’ll start at first base and bat cleanup against Zack Wheeler and the Phillies on Friday evening in Philadelphia.
  • WAS Left Fielder #24
Joey Gallo (shoulder) is slated to play two more rehab games with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He’ll then likely rejoin the Nationals this weekend. Gallo has hit .154/.353/.539 in eight minor league games. He’s 4-for-26 with three homers and a double.

Joey Gallo (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Single-A Fredericksburg on Saturday.
The free-swinging 30-year-old slugger has been sidelined since late April due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. He should only need a couple of game’s worth of at-bats before he’s cleared to return to the Nationals’ lineup. Whether or not that will help, is another question. Gallo was hitting just .122/.286/.311 with three homers, five RBI, one swipe and a 43/15 K/BB ratio over 91 plate appearances before landing on the injured list.
  • WAS Left Fielder #24
Nationals placed 1B/OF Joey Gallo on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder AC joint sprain.
Gallo heads to the injured list for an extended layoff after batting .122 with three homers and a staggering 43 strikeouts in 23 games this season in his Nationals debut. The 47 percent strikeout rate isn’t what you want, but the fact that he’s not really hitting for any power makes it fair to wonder how much longer he’ll stick around for a rebuilding Washington squad that has plenty of top prospects knocking on the door.
  • WAS Left Fielder #24
X-rays were negative on Joey Gallo’s wrist after he was hit by a pitch in Tuesday’s game.
Gallo was plunked in his final at-bat as the Nationals’ DH against the Giants and then remained in to run. He appears to be day-to-day.
  • WAS Left Fielder #24
Joey Gallo went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Phillies on Saturday.
Gallo brought in the only runs of the game for the Nationals, taking Ranger Suárez deep for a two-run shot in the third inning. It was the second home run of the season for Gallo and the 200th of his career. The 30-year-old slugger has played nearly every day at first base for the Nationals and still offers plenty of power with a low batting average floor.
