Tigers acquired INF Joe Rizzo from the Marlins.

The 25-year-old had been hitting just .203/.276/.313 with three homers and 22 RBI between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. He’ll add minor league outfield depth for the Tigers.

Marlins reassigned INF’s Jacob Berry, Joe Rizzo and Troy Johnston, OF Jake Mangum, LHP’s Dylan Bice, Dax Fulton and Robert Garcia and C Jan Mercado to minor league camp.

Berry was the sixth overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft and was in camp for the first time with the Marlins. He’s the most notable inclusion among the first batch of spring cuts for Miami. Rizzo and Mangum might have a shot to contribute at some point this season.

Marlins signed INF Joe Rizzo to a minor league contract.

The 24-year-old spent the first six seasons of his minor league career in the Mariners organization. He spent the 2022 campaign at Double-A Arkansas where he slashed .277/.343/.467 with 21 homers and 69 RBI. He’s able to play first base, third base, second base and the corner outfield and will bring additional depth in the upper minors for the Marlins.
