Nationals recalled LHP Joe La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester.
La Sorsa made 23 relief appearances last year for the Nationals after being acquired from the Rays and will be making his season debut when he gets into a game. The 26-year-old lefty has recorded a strong 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 41/11 K/BB ratio across 56 innings (42 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

LHP Joe La Sorsa will be called up by the Nationals, according to Andrew Golden of the Washington Post.
La Sorsa is joining the team in Philadelphia, though Golden notes it’s unclear if he’ll be activated for Friday’s game against the Phillies. He isn’t joining the team for no reason, making it a safe assumption that he’ll be activated at some point this weekend. La Sorsa had a 4.41 ERA in 25 big league games last year, but was booted from the 40-man roster in the offseason. He had a 2.25 ERA in 42 games with Triple-A this year. The Nationals currently have space on the 40-man roster, but a corresponding move will be necessary to accommodate the addition of La Sorsa to the 26-man roster.
  • WAS Center Fielder #50
Nationals reassigned OFs James Wood, Dylan Crews and Robert Hassell III, 3B Brady House, 1B Juan Yepez, LHPs Richard Bleier and Joe La Sorsa and C Israel Pineda to minor league camp.
The trio of Wood, Crews and Hasell are the headliners here with House not too far behind as part of Washington’s likely future nucleus at the highest level. It’s notable that Trey Lipscomb is still in big-league camp with spring training winding down.

Nationals sent LHP Joe La Sorsa outright to Triple-A Rochester.
The move clears a spot on the club’s 40-man roster in advance of next week’s Rule 5 draft. La Sorsa finally broke through to the big leagues in 2023 — compiling a 4.41 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 28/9 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings between the Nationals and Rays.

Nationals recalled LHP Joe La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester.
The 25-year-old left-hander is taking the place of the injured Jake Irvin (ankle) on the Nationals’ roster. La Sorsa has registered an underwhelming 5.02 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/8 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings at the big league level this season. He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Nats.
  • WAS Relief Pitcher #53
Nationals optioned LHP Joe La Sorsa to Triple-A Rochester.
La Sorsa heads back to the minors to make room for Thaddeus Ward to come off the IL. The left-hander threw five scoreless innings across two appearances in his most recent stint with the big league club and now has a 5.02 ERA in 28 2/3 innings on the season. There’s a chance he gets another shot as a fresh arm in the bullpen later this month.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #68
Nationals activated RHP Thaddeus Ward from the 15-day injured list.
The Rule 5 pick from the Boston Red Sox had made 22 appearances for the Nationals, while posting a 7.12 ERA before going on the IL in early July. Ward looked good in his last rehab outing and has now pitched exactly five innings in his last two outings and is built up to 79 pitches. All 22 of his appearances with Washington this season have come as a reliever, but it appears as though the team is looking to use him as a starter once he returns from the 15-day injured list. Joe La Sorsa was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
