Jacques, 29, had a 4.01 ERA in 29 2/3 innings out of the pen for the Red Sox and Diamondbacks the last two seasons. He’ll be a long shot to win a relief gig in the spring, but he’ll likely resurface at some point.

Jacques went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 29-year-old lefty made one relief appearance for the Diamondbacks this season.

The move makes room for A.J. Puk on the 40-man roster. Jacques, 29, has a 5.46 ERA in 29 2/3 innings since making his major league debut with the Red Sox last season. He made just one major league appearance for the Diamondbacks this year.

Jacques gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings in his lone appearance for the Diamondbacks.

Jacques rejoins Arizona’s bullpen for Thursday’s showdown against the Dodgers. The 29-year-old lefty has yet to make an appearance this season for the Diamondbacks.

The move makes room for Thyago Vieira, who was claimed off waivers Thursday. Jacques spent just one game on Arizona’s active roster and did not get to pitch.

Jacques rejoins Arizona’s bullpen ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the Padres with fellow southpaw Blake Walston hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation. The 29-year-old lefty made one relief appearance earlier this season for the Diamondbacks after being claimed off waivers from the Red Sox. He figures to stick around for an extended period.

The 29-year-old southpaw was placed on waivers this past Saturday and will get a fresh start in Arizona. He’s likely to start off in the minors and be used as bullpen depth for the D-backs. Jacques made 23 appearances (one start) for the Red Sox during the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 20/10 K/BB ratio. In his lone appearance with Boston this season, he allowed three hits and one earned run in 1 2/3 innings of work.

Jacques was removed from Boston’s 40-man roster on Friday to free up a spot for journeyman lefty Cam Booser. The 29-year-old lefty has made 24 relief appearances for the Red Sox over the last two seasons.

Jacques heads back to the minors following Thursday’s series-ending loss to the Guardians to allow the Red Sox to bring up lefty Cam Booser for Friday’s series opener in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old southpaw allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings in relief on Thursday against Cleveland.
