Rangers signed DH Joc Pederson to a two-year, $37 million contract with a mutual option for 2027.
The deal is now official. Pederson’s pull-heavy approach seems like a perfect fit for Globe Life Field, which ranks seventh out of 30 ballparks in Baseball Savant’s three-year park factors for left-handed home run power. The 32-year-old righty-masher, who will be utility-only next season for fantasy purposes, figures to bat in the heart of Texas’ strong lineup as their primary designated hitter, which puts him in position to emerge as a strong power plus counting stats fantasy contributor. He’s eclipsed 23 homers in six of the last nine full seasons dating back to 2015, so we’re confident projecting at least 20-25 round-trippers in his Rangers debut. He’s a strong late-round selection in all fantasy formats as a cheap power source that won’t be a complete anchor in the batting average department.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that the Rangers signed Joc Pederson to a two-year, $37 million contract.
The deal is still pending a physical, but the 32-year-old had been receiving plenty of interest around the league after hitting .275/.393/.515 with 23 home runs and a career-high .908 OPS with the Diamondbacks last year. Pederson has historically dominated right-handed pitching and saw only 32 total at-bats against left-handed pitching last season, so Texas will almost assuredly lock him in as their everyday DH against right-handed pitching, more than replacing the offensive production they were getting from Nathaniel Lowe. Of course, that means the Rangers are also back to only three outfield spots for Adolis Garcia, Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Leody Taveras, so somebody is going to be left out of regular playing time in 2025.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that “Several clubs looking for a left-handed hitting DH are intrigued by Joc Pederson.”
Pederson had a strong year in a strong-side platoon role in Arizona, hitting 23 home runs with a career-high .908 OPS. The Diamondbacks want to bring Pederson back, but Tampa Bay and Texas are also interested. Rosenthal mentions that free agents like Pederson will likely pass on Tampa Bay because they don’t want to play games in a minor league park in the hot summer months, but Texas could be a real threat to sign him. “In 2023, the year they won the World Series, the Rangers ranked third in OPS against right-handed pitching. Last season, they ranked 26th, and their .683 OPS represented more than a 100-point dropoff from the year before.”

Diamondbacks OF Joc Pederson declined his $14 million player option for 2025.
Pederson will take a $3 million buyout and head to free agency after posting a .908 OPS with 23 homers and seven stealds in 132 games for the Diamondbacks. The 32-year-old slugger makes a ton of sense as a righty-mashing platoon option on a contending roster. He shouldn’t have too much trouble finding plenty of suitors.

Joc Pederson went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk against the Mets on Wednesday.
Pederson took Luis Severino deep for a two-run homer in the third inning for his only hit of the game. He later drew a walk in the seventh but was caught stealing second. The 32-year-old slugger is slashing .283/.402/.543 with 21 homers, 60 RBI, and six steals across 382 plate appearances.

Joc Pederson hit a solo homer in a win over the Phillies on Friday.
Pederson gave Arizona a 2-0 lead and himself his 19th homer with a solo trip around the bases off Zack Wheeler. The counting numbers have been affected by his lack of playing time against southpaws, but Pederson has mashed righties enough to pick up the aforementioned homers, 52 RBI and a .945 OPS.

Joc Pederson went 2-for-5 with a huge three-run homer and two runs scored in a 6-5 win over the Pirates on Sunday.
Pederson’s blast brought the Diamondbacks ahead in a game they trailed 4-0 early against Paul Skenes. It was his 17th of the season as he’s been a fixture in the three-hole for Arizona against right-handed pitchers and has torched them for a .945 OPS on the season.

Joc Pederson homered and walked in a win over the Pirates on Friday.
Pederson’s homer was a big one for the D-Backs, as it brought Arizona to within a run at 3-2, and it traveled a whopping 453 feet. The 32-year-old also drew a walk, so in addition to picking up his 15th blast of the year, he also improved his slash to .273/.318/.510. Solid work for a player that probably doesn’t get enough attention for his success.

Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and walk on Friday against the Phillies.
Pederson, Lourdes Gurriel, and Gabriel Moreno all jumped on Taijuan Walker for third inning home runs in this one. Pederson has been a revelation for managers in daily leagues this season with a .927 OPS against right-handers as a mainstay in the heart of Arizona’s lineup.

Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a homer, stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-1 blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.
Pederson’s homer is the ninth of the year, and the steal is the fourth for the 32-year-old in 2024. The veteran outfielder also drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. Pederson has been excellent as of late, and he’s now homered in back-to-back games. If the Diamondbacks fall out of this, he’s a strong candidate to be dealt before the deadline.
