  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Nationals optioned RHP Joan Adon to Triple-A Rochester.
Adon’s stint at the major league level didn’t last long. The 25-year-old pitched four innings and allowed just three hits and one earned run in his season debut against the Giants on Tuesday. It’s a bit surprising that the Nats decided to send him down given the injury news to Josiah Gray, but he’ll likely find his way back in the Nationals’ rotation at some point this season.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Making his season debut, Joan Adon allowed one run over four innings in his start against the Giants on Tuesday.
Adon got the job done despite allowing three hits and three walks and getting just two missed swings in the 72-pitch outing. He’ll probably get to stick around and remain in the rotation until Josiah Gray returns.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Nationals recalled RHP Joan Adon from Triple-A Rochester.
Adon will join the Nationals’ active roster after the team placed Josiah Gray (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. The 25-year-old made 12 appearances (10 starts) for Washington last season and posted a 6.45 ERA, 1.63 WHIP with a 48/24 K/BB ratio across 51 2/3 innings.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher
Nationals optioned RHPs Joan Adon, Cole Henry, and Amos Willingham, LHPs DJ Herz and Mitchell Parker, and INF/OF Jake Alu to Triple-A Rochester.
With Adon has been in the Nationals’ rotation before, it’s Herz and Henry that are the two big names here. Herz came over from the Cubs in the Jeimer Candelario trade and was tremendous for the Nationals in Double-A and then also in the AFL. Meanwhile, Henry is a former first-round pick who is coming off of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery. Both have looked good this spring and have a chance to crack the Nationals’ rotation over the summer.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Joan Adon blanked the Twins for three innings in his start Sunday.
Adon had the nice day despite going without a strikeout. He has a 4.50 ERA in six innings this spring as he attempts to make the Nationals, something that became a tougher task when he was saddled with an extra option year. He’s already spent parts of three seasons in the majors, going 3-16 with a 6.66 ERA in 121 2/3 innings.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Joan Adon was charged with three runs in four-plus innings Saturday against the Braves.
It was one run through four innings, but Adon gave up consecutive hits to begin the fifth, resulting in his removal. We’re not sure why Dave Martinez both thought it was a good idea to have Adon face the top of the Braves order for a third time and also a good idea to yank him two batters into facing the top of the order for a third time, but no one ever said that handling pitchers was Martinez’s forte. To tell the truth, no one has really ever spelled out what Martinez’s forte might be.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Joan Adon surrendered four runs and four walks in 4 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Braves.
Adon has walked 15 while giving up 15 earned runs in 18 2/3 innings this month. Unfortunately, he’ll have to face the Braves again in his final start of the year.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Saturday’s game between the Braves and Nationals has been postponed due to inclement weather.
With a massive tropical storm bearing down on the east coast, the Nationals made the call on Friday night and the two teams will square off on Sunday in a doubleheader instead. It’ll presumably be Joan Adon and Kyle Wright taking the ball at some point in the twin bill.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Joan Adon yielded five runs and nine hits in five innings Monday in a loss to the White Sox.
Adon has given up 16 earned runs over 19 innings in his last four starts, and his ERA is sitting at 6.28. He should finish the season in the Nationals rotation, but he’s not making a very strong case for 2024.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #60
Joan Adon surrendered three runs on eight hits Tuesday in a loss to the Pirates.
He struck out four and allowed six free passes on the night. The 25-year-old allowed a two-run homer to former National, Josh Palacios in the bottom of the second. After three straight hits and one more run by the Pirates in the fifth, he was removed from the game. Adon’s summer high of taking a perfect game into the sixth inning in early August seems so long ago now. He’ll take a 5.68 ERA back home to face the underwhelming White Sox ballclub on Monday.
