Marlins placed OF Jesús Sánchez on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Sánchez was hurt on March 15 and was set to miss four weeks at that time. He will likely need another three weeks before beginning a rehab assignment and trying to work his way back into the Marlins’ lineup. It seems that Griffin Conine will step into the starting lineup in his place.

Jesús Sánchez has been diagnosed with a Grad 1 left oblique strain and will miss four weeks.
Not great. Sánchez suffered the oblique injury during Thursday’s spring contest against the Braves and will require a trip to the injured list at the outset of the regular season. His absence likely leads to a starting role for Dane Myers in right field for a couple weeks. The 27-year-old slugging corner outfielder put together the strongest year of his career last season when he posted 18 homers and 16 steals in 149 contests. Barring any setbacks, which isn’t a given with oblique issues, he should return by mid-to-late April.

Jesús Sánchez had a rough day at the dish in Thursday’s contest against the Braves, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout.
The 27-year-old outfielder is off to a very slow start this spring, hitting just .125 (2-for-16) with only one RBI and a 7/1 K/BB ratio. It’s early though, so fantasy managers shouldn’t panic just yet. Sánchez looks ready to shoulder a full-time load and will hit in the middle of the Marlins’ lineup in 2025, which combined with his dazzling blend of power and speed makes him an attractive target in the later rounds of mixed league drafts.

Jesús Sánchez (elbow) has been cleared for full hitting activities.
Sánchez was dealing with inflammation in his left elbow, but he’s now full-go as a hitter and is in the final stages of his throwing program, so he should be back at 100 percent soon. The 27-year-old has long been a strong-side platoon player for the Marlins. But Sánchez started to get at-bats against left-handed pitchers after the trade deadline in 2024, which means he could be a full-time player this season. If that’s the case, he’s going way too late in drafts right now.

Jesús Sánchez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Sunday against the Braves.
Sánchez has done just enough this year to be back in his rightful place on every sleeper and breakout list ahead of next season. His home run was back-to-back with Connor Norby and was blasted an estimated 436 feet to straight away center field. The traits will always be tantalizing with Sánchez.

Jesús Sánchez went 5-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI as the Marlins took down the Dodgers 11-9 on Tuesday.
Sánchez was oh so happy to see a righty on the mound for the Dodgers tonight after five straight games versus southpaws. He’s batting .283/.339/.482 versus righties this season, compared to .137/.196/.211 against lefties. It’s his first career five-hit game. In fact, he never had even four hits in any of his previous 434 major league appearances.

Jesús Sánchez is batting cleanup against a left-hander Sunday versus the Nationals.
This is the last of a string of five straight left-handed starters the Marlins have been matched up against. Sánchez started two of the previous four games and finished hitless both times. For the season, he’s batting just .141/.194/.217 in 99 plate appearances versus southpaws, and he’s setting himself up to be a strict platoon guy if the Marlins return to contention at some point.

Jesus Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored against the Pirates on Monday.
Sanchez has hits in eight of his last nine games. He’s 11-for-24 (.458) with five runs, three RBI and three stolen bases in that time. Sanchez is hitting .251 with 17 home runs, 13 stolen bases and 59 RBI on the year.

Jesús Sánchez (back) is in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Phillies.
Sánchez was back in Miami’s lineup on Friday night after missing a pair of contests due to back spasms.

Jesús Sánchez (back) is not in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Phillies.
The 26-year-old was removed from Tuesday’s game with a back spasm, and then the Marlins faced two straight left-handed pitchers, so it was a good time to let him heal up. As of now, we expect that Sánchez will return to the lineup for the final three games against right-handed pitching, but we’ll have to wait another day to find out. With Griffin Conine also sitting against a lefty, it will be David Hensley batting sixth and playing right field and Christian Pache batting eighth and playing center field.
