The Royals have signed ex-Anaheim right-hander Jason Dickson to a minor-league contract.
Dickson, 31, who has spent the past two seasons pitching for Somerset in the independent Atlantic League, did have success pitching in the American League from 1996-2000, but hip and shoulder injuries have derailed him since then. He will report to Triple-A Omaha, and try to pitch his way back into the majors.
