Jared Shuster blanked the Angels over three innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Wednesday.
Shuster allowed one hit with one strikeout and no walks. The left-hander came up as a starter, but this appears to be his most effective role. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer much fantasy relevance, and that’s especially true with so few strikeouts.

Jared Shuster is starting Wednesday’s game against the Angels.
Shuster will go his traditional 2-3 innings as an opener and give way to the White Sox bullpen as he has in all of his “starts” in 2024. Even if he didn’t pitch for the White Sox, you can’t trust him as a fantasy option.

Jared Shuster gave up three runs in 2 2/3 innings to get a loss against the Guardians on Monday.
Shuster was the “opener” but was able to work fairly deep despite giving up two runs in the first and another in the third. The 26-year-old did strike out five, but that’s of little help to anyone — we have to imagine there was someone, anyway — that streamed Shuster on Monday night.

Jared Shuster will serve as the opener for the White Sox on Monday against the Guardians.
Nick Nastrini had been listed as the starting pitcher, so presumably he will work out of the bullpen behind Shuster. Both are risky fantasy options.

White Sox’ manager Pedro Grifol told reporters after Saturday’s game that Chad Kuhl is likely to start in Sunday’s first-half finale against the Pirates.
Grifol also noted that Jared Shuster could get the call, but it’ll more than likely be Kuhl. The 31-year-old right-hander holds a 4.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 16/12 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings on the season. He’s certainly not a recommended streaming option from a fantasy perspective.

Jared Shuster gave up two runs in two innings of work Thursday against the Guardians.
Shuster wasn’t expected to go more than a couple of innings in his start, and he didn’t “disappoint.” The southpaw went into the third, but was pulled after giving up a homer to Stephen Kwan without getting an out. Shuster has been effective in his relief role, but he doesn’t have the stuff to be a competent starter.

Jared Shuster will start for the White Sox in Thursday’s series finale against the Guardians.
Shuster has pitched exclusively out of the White Sox’ bullpen this season, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 21/16 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings in 17 appearances. The 25-year-old hurler threw 64 pitches a couple of weeks ago against the Tigers, but otherwise hasn’t been stretched out, so he shouldn’t be expected to work more than a couple of innings on Thursday.

Jared Shuster picked up the win while throwing three scoreless innings in relief in the first game of a doubleheader against Atlanta.
Shuster came in to work three innings of bulk relief after Chad Kuhl exited after three frames. The 25-year-old is the 27th player for the doubleheader against Atlanta — Shuster’s former organization — and he made a case for staying up while striking out two and allowing just one hit. Shuster has pitched well in his limited chances with the White Sox, but even if he did get called up into a full-time role, there’s a lot working against him as a potential fantasy option.

White Sox recalled LHP Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte.
Shuster will be the 27th man on the roster for Chicago’s second game of a doubleheader against the Royals. The 25-year-old has made two appearances for the White Sox this season and has posted a solid 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP with a 4/2 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings.

Jared Shuster will serve as the White Sox’ 27th man for Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Royals.
Shuster was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte earlier this week, so the doubleheader gives the White Sox a chance to bring him back without an official roster move. He’s pitched well in his two appearances where he’s yielded one earned run in his 6 1/3 innings pitched. He’ll head back to the minors at the conclusion of the twin bill.
