Naile heads overseas, where he’ll make $950,000 in Korea, after posting an inflated 7.40 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 12/11 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (17 appearances) over the last two seasons for the Cardinals. The 30-year-old righty will aim to build up his long-term value overseas in Korea. His departure opens up a spot on St. Louis’ 40-man roster.

The 30-year-old right-hander has struggled in 10 appearances out of the Cardinals’ bullpen this season, registering a troublesome 8.80 ERA, 2.35 WHIP and a 7/9 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings. He’ll add a fresh arm to the Cardinals’ bullpen for the final two days of the season.

Naile has been sent back to the minors with veteran reliever Drew VerHagen back from the bereavement list.

Naile will take Guillermo Zuñiga’s place in St. Louis’ bullpen. The 30-year-old has a 9.64 ERA, 2.50 WHIP, and 7/9 K/BB ratio across 14 innings with the big league club this season.

The Cardinals needed a fresh arm in the pen, and James Naile drew the short straw. He’ll head back to the minors to serve as organizational depth for St. Louis.

With all of the players that the Cardinals have dealt away over the past few days, there were several spots on the roster — and in the bullpen to fill. Naile has struggled in his limited action with the big league club this season, compiling an 11.74 ERA and 3.26 WHIP over 7 2/3 innings in his five appearances.

Naile was allowed to give up eight of the Marlins’ 15 runs in Tuesday’s blowout, so it was obvious that this was coming. Overall, he has an 11.74 ERA over five appearances in two stints with the Cardinals.

Naile will rejoin the bullpen. He allowed five runs — two earned — in 4 1/3 innings for the Cardinals during a two-week stint last month.

Naile has been shipped back to the minors to make room for lefty Matthew Liberatore to take the ball on Wednesday against the Brewers. He should be back up in a few weeks as extra middle relief depth.

The 30-year-old hurler has done a nice job in six appearances (two starts) at Triple-A Memphis this season -- posting a 2.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 19/6 K/BB ratio across 18 innings. He’ll give manager Oli Marmol another option that’s capable of working multiple innings out of the bullpen.
