Blue Jays signed RHP James Kaprielian to a minor-league contract.
Kaprielian has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo. The 30-year-old was outrighted off the Athletics roster in October and became a free agent at the end of the year, and has been recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent that August. He’ll get a chance to work in Triple-A to show if he can possibly help the Blue Jays staff before the end of the 2024 season.

Kaprielian has been jettisoned from Oakland’s 40-man roster and went unclaimed on waivers. There is no timetable for his return at the moment.

Nothing has changed in Kaprielian’s recovery timeline — he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in early August. This was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Spencer Patton.

Kaprielian underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a labrum injury in his right shoulder. There is no timetable for his return, so it sounds like he could wind up missing time at the outset of the 2024 campaign.

The 29-year-old hurler has been shelved since the end of June due to a right shoulder strain. The A’s are hopeful that this injection will help to promote healing, but at this time there are no plans for him to resume throwing.

Athletics placed RHP James Kaprielian on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 27, with a right shoulder strain.
The 29-year-old hurler sustained the injury during last week’s start against the Blue Jays. It’s not yet clear how long exactly he’ll be sidelined. In 14 appearances (11 starts) on the season, Kaprielian has registered a 6.34 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 57/31 K/BB ratio across 61 innings of work.

James Kaprielian gave up one run in 5 1/3 innings and struck out six against the Phillies on Saturday.
Kaprielian came up two outs short of a third straight quality start, but he lowered his ERA to 2.59 this month. He’s turned things around nicely after a horrible start that saw him lose his rotation spot just two weeks into the season.
