James Darnell said Monday in Padres camp that he is fully recovered from September shoulder surgery.
“It’s 100 percent now and feels great,” Darnell said. “I’ve been told it’s actually better than before ... a little stronger than before. It’s stronger in the joint than ever before.” The 25-year-old utilityman batted just .222/.294/.333 in 18 games last season for the big-league Padres, but he had a .953 OPS and 23 home runs in 111 games between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson.
