  • HOU Center Fielder #6
Jake Meyers went 2-for-3 with four runs scored, a home run and a walk against the Mets on Saturday.
Meyers’ home run was his eighth of the season. He started the scoring with a solo shot off Tylor Megill in the second inning and ended up scoring four runs himself in the contest. Meyers is hitting .262 with a .775 OPS and 30 RBI on the season.

Jake Meyers went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Rockies.
Meyers was responsible for three of the Astros’ nine hits on the night and was part of the team’s five-run first inning. Meyers singled in the first to drive in Yordan Alvarez from second and later came around to score himself. Despite the strong night, Meyers is hitting just .203 on the month but has a slash line of .260/.302/.392 on the season.

Jake Meyers went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in the Astros 4-1 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
Meyers doubled in the sixth and came around to score on a base hit by César Salazar. He then led off the eighth with another double before moving to third on a sacrifice bunt and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Chas McCormick. The 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .254/.312/.418 with six homers, 25 RBI, and six steals across 206 plate appearances.

Jake Meyers went 0-for-3 in the loss to the White Sox on Tuesday.
It’s a fourth straight hitless game for Meyers, who is in a 10-for-65 slump that has dropped his OPS from .898 to .713. The good news for Meyers is that with José Abreu gone and Chas McCormick still in the doghouse, there isn’t much of a playing time crunch in Houston right now. That’ll change if McCormick picks it up or maybe if Joey Loperfido is given a chance later this month.

Jake Meyers is not in the Astros’ starting lineup on Wednesday against the Giants.
Meyers has been the regular center fielder for the Astros for a while now, but the 27-year-old is starting to cool down at the plate. Over the last 20 games, Meyers is hitting .227/.284/.293 with one home run, four steals, and a 25 percent strikeout rate. Meyers plays good defense in center field, which helps his case to keep starting, but if he doesn’t pick it up with the bat, more off days could be in his future. Interestingly, Chas McCormick is also not in the starting lineup as the Astros have opted to play Trey Cabbage in right field and Mauricio Dubon in center.

Jake Meyers hit a three-run homer to help the Astros to a win over the Athletics on Friday.
Meyers continues to impress, and his three-run blast is the sixth of the season. The outfielder is now hitting an impressive .300/.369/.545 with 22 RBI over 43 games. There’s no reason to think that Meyers is going to lose playing time soon, even if these numbers are likely unsustainable.

Jake Meyers went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Brewers on Sunday.
Meyers has been solid since coming back from injury and is now slashing .302/.368/.522 on the season. Even with Chas McCormick coming off the IL soon, there’s no guarantee that Meyers will be pushed to the bench. He plays good defense in center field and has been performing better than McCormick so far in the young season. The outfield could be a bit of a logjam in the future for the Astros.

Jake Meyers hit a solo homer in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.
Meyers got the Astros to within a run with a solo homer in the fifth off of Bryse Wilson. The outfielder also singled twice for a three-hit game, and it bumps his average up to .286. He’s quietly put together a strong first third of the season even while the Astros have disappointed collectively.

Jake Meyers went 3-for-3 with three RBI off the bench Sunday against the Tigers.
It was really odd how the Astros made an issue of naming Meyers their starting center fielder this spring, only to change course a week into the season. Hs numbers have been at least adequate throughout and are now actually quite good; he’s hitting .267/.321/.480 in 82 plate appearances. He has the fourth-highest OPS and 10th-most plate appearances on the team.

Jake Mayers is out of the starting lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Tigers.
Meyers will get a rest for the finale against Detroit in the Motor City. Joey Loperfido will play center field while Trey Cabbage gets a start in left.
