    Astros released RHP Jairo Solis.
Solis was a notable pitching prospect with some serious swing-and-miss stuff roughly a half-decade ago before undergoing the second Tommy John surgery of his career back in 2021. The 25-year-old righty has yet to reach the big leagues and it’s unclear whether another organization out there is willing to give him a look.

Astros re-signed RHP Jairo Solis to a minor league contract.
Solis returns to the fold as viable emergency upper-level starting pitching depth for the Astros after compiling an inflated 8.46 ERA, 2.01 WHIP and 50/37 K/BB ratio across 61 2/3 innings (18 appearances, 14 starts) this season for Triple-A Sugar Land. He was on Houston’s 40-man roster at the conclusion of the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, but wound up undergoing his second career Tommy John surgery during the 2021 season.

Astros sent RHP Jairo Solis outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Solis cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will remain with the Astros entering the 2022 season. The 22-year-old righty has yet to pitch above the Single-A level and is still recovering from Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery.

Astros designated RHP Jairo Solis for assignment.
The move clears out a 40-man roster spot for super-utilityman Niko Goodrum. Solis underwent Tommy John surgery last June and will be sidelined until sometime in the second half of the 2022 campaign.

Astros prospect right-hander Jairo Solis underwent Tommy John surgery on Monday.
Solis underwent surgery in late April to remove loose bodies from his right elbow, but it turns out that he’ll need his second Tommy John surgery. This will knock him out for the remainder of this season and likely sideline him through midseason next year, as well. It’s obviously a big setback in his development and a tough blow to Houston’s farm system. The 21-year-old is one of the team’s better pitching prospects and was added to the 40-man roster this past November.

Astros pitching prospect Jairo Solis underwent surgery Friday to remove loose bodies from his right elbow.
The operation is expected to sideline him for three months. Solis, 21, is ranked by MLB.com as the team’s No. 8 prospect.

Astros purchased the contract of RHP Jairo Solis.
The 20-year-old hurler missed the entire 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in the middle of 2018. His rehab and recovery have reportedly gone very smoothly though and he has regained his full velocity following surgery. He hasn’t pitched above A-ball and will need to log some meaningful minor league innings before ever becoming an option for the Astros, but the team remains very high on his potential.
